PSB announces M4U 8 MKII wireless headphone

Respected Canadian loudspeaker firm PSB has released the M4U 8 MKII wireless noise cancelling headphone which sees a range of improvements introduced to elevate the mobile listening experience.

The update to the original over ear, closed back M4U 8 wireless ANC headphone includes the latest all digital noise cancellation technology, the next generation of PSB’s RoomFeel and enhanced battery life, while personalisation options come courtesy of Audiodo Personal Sound.

The M4U 8 MKII can connect to music, game and movie/TV show sources wirelessly or via wired options with Bluetooth wireless connectivity providing 24 bit high definition support via aptX HD and unique dual 3.5mm jacks (one on each ear cup) and a USB-C port enabling a physical connection where required.

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) utilises four digital microphones to cut down on analogue-to-digital conversion error in audio processing and both an Active or Passive mode can be employed. Even in Active mode an impressive 25 hours of run time is available while the wired Passive mode can help save battery life.

Audiodo Personal Sound

To ensure that each individual hears music in the best way that’s specifically suited to them, the M4U 8 MKII features Personal Sound by Audiodo, the first time the technology has appeared on a Hi-Fi headphone. Audiodo measures a listener’s unique hearing abilities and corrects for hearing damage, physiological irregularities, and even psychoacoustic perceptions. The Audiodo hearing calibration is available in the dedicated PSB Headphones app and produces a precise model of an individual’s sense of hearing in order to take advantage of the PSB's natural sonic signature.

RoomFeel Technology

Also implemented in the MK4 8 MKII headphone is RoomFeel which uses decades of research in acoustic design to recreate the energy and clarity that a room adds when listening to high-quality loudspeakers. This results in greater detail and better imaging to deliver the natural sound of a live performance even when listeners are on the move.

Comfort

To maintain comfort and to ensure a fatigue-free experience throughout long listening sessions, the unique two-way adjustable, super-soft ear pads are gyro-suspended for optimal ergonomics. The lightweight design helps headphones “disappear” and the expandable headband also easily adjusts for a more customised fit.

Other features include NFC pairing for supported devices, Qualcomm cVc technology for clear calls, and physical controls for volume, playback, and mode with the PSB Headphones app providing additional functions, settings and over-the-air updates.

Matt Simmonds, PSB Headphones Product Manager, commented, “The M4U 8 MKII is now our 3rd generation of noise cancelling headphones, appealing to the practical sensibilities of customers who want the best audio performance, but need wireless, feature-rich headphones for an on-the-go lifestyle. The M4U 8 MKII achieves the perfect balance.”

The PSB M4U 8 MKII comes with a carry case and tangle free cables and is available for pre-order from October 20th priced at £349 (US$399 / €449 / CDN$499 MSRP) with availability and delivery commencing in November 2021.
