Sales figures just in from the US reveal the PlayStation 4 heavily outsold the Xbox One. in January, according to analysts NPD.
In fact, according to games journo, Geoff Keighley, who spoke to PlayStation Senior Vice President, Guy Longworth, Sony sold nearly double the amount of PS4’s than Microsoft did the Xbox One. Or, at least, its "nearest next-gen competitor," according to his Twitter feed.
PlayStation marketing VP John Koller has since confirmed the healthy reports to the official PlayStation blog. "Since we launched on November 15th, we’ve sold every PS4 available in the US," he said.

As is the nature of these things, Microsoft is putting its own healthy spin on the figures by focussing on games sales and, to be fair, they aren’t to be sneezed at.
Sales for software relating to Xbox consoles – note they didn’t give a One/360 split – accounted for 47% of the total US market in January, although, for example, Keighley revealed that Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition sold twice as many copies on PlayStation 4 as it did the Xbox One.
The January figures hold extra significance as they are a pointer to how the consoles will fare in the slow run up to the holiday season and the PS4 looks set fare to dominate the early portion of the year.
Now, how about that cheaper SKU, Microsoft? And remember to play nice in the comments section, folks, it is Valentine's after all!
