UPDATED: 10 January 2023
One year to the month after first being unveiled, Piega has announced that the Ace Wireless speakers will now come with integrated Apple AirPlay 2 support. The new addition will enables users to "play their favourite music directly via an iOS device and use multi-room streaming", with existing owners seeing the upgrade as an 'over-the-air' firmware update.

The Swiss audio firm’s Ace Wireless speakers were recently awarded WiSA certification for wireless interoperability with other devices that also feature the accreditation and they can be used in configurations from stereo to 7.1 surround channels making them ideal for both music and movie pastimes.

Forming the basis of the industrial aesthetic, the newly designed extruded aluminium cabinets of the Ace 50, Ace 30 and Ace Center house upgraded mid and bass MDS drivers, a revised version of Piega’s Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter and digital amplification up to 200W per channel. There’s access to streaming services, and the sophisticated DSP system is capable of handling up to 24bit/192kHz Hi-Res Audio.

As well as connection using the WiSA platform, there's also wireless connectivity courtesy of Bluetooth while HDMI, optical and coaxial ports offer wired options alongside analogue connectivity for legacy audio products. Moreover, the Ace Wireless system is Roon Ready, DLNA certified and integrates Spotify Connect and Google Chromecast. The built-in DSP system features switchable boundary gain compensation.

The Ace 50 and Ace 30 Wireless models are available in two formats: the TX (transmission) version and RX (receiver) versions. A stereo pair features one of each unit and music is sent in lossless Hi-Res quality wirelessly from the TX model to one or more RX speakers. Meanwhile, multichannel systems use all RX designated units since a WiSA-certified component such as a TV would act as the signal decoder (e.g. Dolby, DTS etc.) and transmission hub to the RX speakers.

Tony Ostrom, WiSA President, said of the Ace Wireless speaker system, “The system is the perfect example of seamless TV and loudspeaker integration as the Ace Wireless speakers can be connected wirelessly to any WiSA Certified product to deliver excellent sound.”

Due to the differing natures of the TX and RX variants, the prices vary accordingly as below:

All models are available in three colour finishes of sandblasted natural aluminium, anodised satin black or gloss white lacquer with colour coordinated, removable grilles.

The Ace 30 Wireless 'bookshelf' unit is a compact stand mount, 2-way loudspeaker, featuring a 120mm MDS mid/bass driver and an Air Motion Transformer ribbon tweeter. Powered by a 100W amplifier, the Ace 30’s DSP delivers deep bass and an even frequency response (35Hz-25kHz) across the audio band, despite its small cabinet volume.

The 2-way centre channel loudspeaker features a 100W amplifier driving 2x 12cm MDS mid/bass drivers and Piega’s AMT ribbon tweeter. Functionality and connectivity are identical to the Ace 50 Wireless RX.

Available in the UK from late February, the Ace Wireless series will be available exclusively through Piega audio retailers across the UK.
