Philips, Europe’s fastest growing, profitable TV brand expands its agreement with Currys PC World, the UK’s no.1 electrical retailer, to offer more Philips TVs in more stores.

When TP Vision first stepped in to resurrect the Philips TV brand back in 2011, it started a journey that has seen the highly regarded TVs make their way back to the UK High Street / Retail Parks.

This has now culminated in an expansion of the successful partnership between TP Vision and Currys PC World which started back in 2018. Since then, Philips has been one of the key TV brands available via Currys PC World online and October 2019 saw a trial to move the brand into physical Currys PC World stores.

The trial was a success leading to a continuous roll-out to new stores to the extent that Philips TV models now appear in all Currys PC World stores in major locations – some 219 in total.

Within the stores themselves, the prominence given to Philips TVs will also increase and the instore displays of the brand jumps from 5 stores to 25 with new sites in: Southampton, Staples Corner, Birmingham, Oxford, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Croydon.

This includes 5 key locations where enough wall space is provided to demonstrate up to five 65-inch TVs whereby Philips OLED and Ambilight technologies can be showcased to their very best effect.

At the moment, these wall display are home to the multi-award winning OLED754, OLED805 and OLED+934 models but by early November there will be a swap to the latest flagship OLED+935, which also features sound by Bowers & Wilkins and will come in a 48-inch screen size.

Commenting on the expansion, Director UK & Nordic, Henrik Kyhl of Philips TV & Sound said: ‘While 2020 has been an unbelievable challenging year for business, and everyone personally, our partnership with Currys PC World has continually delivered good news and sales success for both companies. That success has been delivered thanks to a combination of our outstanding product quality and Currys PC World exceptional service and expertise. The partnership plays a key role in our strategy of returning Philips to its place as a major TV brand in the UK’.

Perhaps a trip to your nearest Currys PC World might be worth making if you're looking for a TV upgrade - any new lockdown restrictions notwithstanding, of course. If you do make the trip, pop back and leave a comment about your impressions of the Philips TVs on offer.
