  • Abbey Road Studios is one of the most famous recording studios in the world and, via a partnership with TP Vision, they have announced Philips as their official TV partner.
TP Vision are the brand licensee for the design, sales, marketing and manufacturing of Philips TVs and this new strategic partnership, according to the company, celebrates a shared commitment to excellence, reflected in Abbey Road’s mission to deliver the highest quality recording experience, and TP Vision’s commitment to ensuring Philips TVs offer the very best-in-class picture quality.

The two brands will be embarking on a creative collaboration encompassing the creation of unique content, as well as events and special activations at the studios.

Philips, who have just announced their 2019 range of TVs, will become the preferred TV for Abbey Road Studios award-winning engineers and will be used throughout the studios’ world-famous live rooms, control rooms and public spaces.

A number of different sets and screen sizes will be used throughout the studios, including the OLED+903 multi-award-winning TV which recently won two independent picture quality tests and won the AVForums Best Picture Processing 2018 Award.

The OLED+903 also features a sound system designed in conjunction with the leading specialist audio brand, and Abbey Road Studios’ official loudspeaker and headphone partner, Bowers & Wilkins.

For Philips TV, the partnership with Abbey Road Studios allows the brand to leverage its European heritage and jointly celebrate craftsmanship, innovation and European excellence.

Commenting on the new partnership, TP Vision Chief Marketing Officer Martijn Smelt said: ‘We have successfully created a number of exciting partnerships with high-end European brands that share our ethos and passions. Abbey Road Studios is a legendary brand that for decades has represented the finest in music production. I’m delighted that they recognise a similar culture of excellence at TP Vision and feel that Philips TV best represents their perfect TV partner’.

Commenting on behalf of Abbey Road Studios, Jeremy Huffelmann Head of Partnerships, said: “We are delighted to be embarking on a new partnership with Philips, who share our commitment to technical excellence, and passion for innovation and craftsmanship. By collaborating with TP Vision, we can continue to enhance our in-studio audio visual services to provide the best possible experience for our clients, whilst further exploring the intersection of sound and vision that lies at the heart of Abbey Road.”

So, Abbey Road brings the ‘audio’ and Philips the ‘visual’ in a shared AV communion that could result in some interesting future developments, especially with the studios being so involved in film soundtracks.
