Announced back in January, the new Fidelio X3 headphones from Philips will be available in the UK from 31st August.
The flagship X3 may be a further iteration on from 2015’s X2 headphones but it is actually intended as a relaunch for Philips’s acclaimed Fidelio series of high-end headphones and AV products.
As the latest version of the popular over ear, open backed headsets, the flagship X3 continues adherence to the three pillars of sound quality, European design and sensible user experience and achieve this by combining a natural and accurate sound, usability, style and comfort - lending themselves as the choice for audiophiles and artists.
Using end to end high quality components, the Fidelio X3 uses large multi-layer 50mm drivers which are gel-filled for better damping to deliver a full range, spacious sound. Described by Philips as delivering ‘generous bass and a warm midrange’, the X3 places an emphasis on a tight, impactful sound with improved separation of instruments and voices. The company goes on to say, the high-end of the spectrum is 'clean, detailed and provides excellent extension.’ The result is a spacious delivery with music appearing to extend well beyond the confines of the headset thus creating an experience that is both ‘authentic and accurate.’ This soundscape is facilitated by the powerful neodymium motor system.
With an optional balanced connection and cable to guarantee optimal stereo separation, the X3 is also Hi-Res Audio certified.
With an eye on the European design element of the X3’s configuration, comfort is front and centre with high quality materials such as responsibly sourced Muirhead leather from Scotland and Danish Kvadrat acoustic fabric - long listening sessions should be a breeze.
The X3 is priced £299.99 and has a confirmed on-sale date of August 31st in the UK and will be initially available from Richer Sounds and AO.com, with Selfridges and other leading retailers to follow in early September.
