Panasonic introduces special edition SC-HTB01 gaming speaker

Panasonic has unveiled a Final Fantasy special edition version of its 2.1-channel SC-HTB01 gaming speaker which can also double as a fully featured home cinema soundbar with support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and DTS: Virtual X.

The impressively monikered SoundSlayer SC-HTB01 speaker was designed in collaboration with Square Enix to enhance gaming, with a 2.1 channel, 3-way speaker system and a built-in subwoofer, all within a single compact body.

Named as a CES 2021 Innovation Awards Honoree in the Headphones & Personal Audio category, the SC-HTB01 speaker uses audio technologies such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X and DTS: Virtual X plus three gaming sound modes created through joint development with the Final Fantasy XIV Online sound team.

Role-Playing Game mode – Ideal for role-playing games and optimised for Final Fantasy XIV Online, this mode creates a sense of reality and intensity enhancing the feeling of being inside the game's virtual world.

First-Person Shooter mode – Provides accurate audio location which allows users to hear subtle sounds such as footsteps, giving gamers the advantage in first-person shooter and third person shooter games.

Voice mode – Enhances human voices and further contributes to the immersive experience. Recommended for adventure games, where clear dialogue can provide important clues.

Gamers can easily and quickly switch between modes based on whichever game they are playing to create the most suitable audio match for their preferred gaming style.

The SC-HTB01’s low profile means the speaker can sit unobtrusively in front of a PC monitor or TV without obstructing the view.

Ellison Ferdinand, Product Manager Home Entertainment Group, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company, North America, commented, “The SoundSlayer Gaming Speaker was designed with serious gamers in mind. The three gaming sound modes provide an immersive audio experience within the action of consumers’ favorite games.” He added, “We are delighted that it has been recognized as a CES® 2021 Innovation Awards Honoree.”
