    Onkyo unveils its new speakers and headphones range
    Today at IFA in Berlin, Onkyo in partnership with Gibson Innovations has announced the launch of its new range of speakers and headphones.
    The headphones include the world's first True Wireless in-ear design, the Onkyo W800BT, and on-ear headphones such as the Onkyo H500M High Resolution Audio headphones. One of the highlights of the new speaker range is the X9 High Resolution Audio speaker. It is Onkyo’s first speaker to incorporate advanced technologies capable of reproducing High Resolution Audio via USB audio-in.

    The Onkyo W800BT is billed as the world’s first True Wireless in-ear headphones. With absolutely no cables, the left and right earpieces work independently and connect wirelessly to each other and to your smart device. Available in Europe from November 2015, the headphones are part of the full Onkyo speaker and headphone range being shown for the first time at IFA Berlin.

True Wireless is the future, and we’re proud to showcase this genuine breakthrough innovation here at the IFA in Berlin.”

    Each earpiece incorporates an Ø8.6mm high-powered driver that delivers a balanced sound across a frequency range of 20Hz-20kHz. The open acoustic architecture results in a clear and accurate audio experience with passive noise isolation. The right earpiece includes a microphone to enable hands-free calls and can be used with any Bluetooth-enabled device. The Onkyo W800BT features a charging case to store your headphones with its own internal battery, giving you up to 15 hours of talk time and 12 hours of music reproduction.

    Onkyo also introduced the X9 High Resolution Audio and X3 portable speakers. The X9 is Onkyo’s first speaker to incorporate advanced technologies capable of reproducing High Resolution Audio via USB audio-in. Both speakers share an oval-shaped minimalist design realised in aluminium, feature Bluetooth wireless streaming and a built-in rechargeable battery. The speakers are part of the full Onkyo speaker and headphone range being shown for the first time at IFA Berlin.

    High Resolution Audio places the listener closer to the original recording master than any technology available before it,” said Gruijters. “To achieve a High Resolution Audio experience, each step in the audio chain needs to be realized at a high quality. We take an end-to-end approach in acoustic design, ensuring every component in the signal path contributes to the best possible listening experience.”

    Four Ø50mm mid-bass drivers and two Ø19mm High Resolution Audio tweeters combine with dual opposing passive radiators to recreate sound across an extended frequency range of 57Hz-40kHz. Its rechargeable battery, Bluetooth and wired connectivity and High Resolution Audio capabilities are encased in an acoustically tuned aluminium housing. The speaker also includes a headphone out port so that High Resolution Audio can also be experienced through capable headphones.

    Two Ø45mm mid-bass drivers, dual opposing passive radiators and a 2x 4.5W RMS power output combine to create performance in a compact package. A built-in rechargeable battery, USB port to charge mobile devices, built-in microphone and wireless connectivity are encased in an acoustically tuned aluminum housing. With 8 hours playtime, the X3 has been designed for a portable and listening experience.
