It shouldn't come as a surprise that Disney are to put the new Star Wars trailer in front of the latest Avengers movie.
The new trailer will actually premiere at the Star Wars Celebration convention that runs from the 16th to the 19th of April. It's likely that the trailer will then be released to the internet before Avengers: Age of Ultron opens internationally on the 23rd of April. As is common with Marvel movies, Avengers: Age of Ultron will actually open in overseas territories first, before opening in the US a week later on the 1st of May. Given that Disney owns both Marvel and Lucasfilm, it makes perfect sense for them to attach the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer to Avengers: Age of Ultron and thus provide it with the largest audience possible.
The first Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer was released to much fanfare at the end of November, although apparently against the wishes of director J. J. Abrams, who had only just finished principal photography. The director is notorious for keeping his cards close to his chest and the teaser was just that, showing only new faces and none of the original cast but ending with a glorious shot of the Millennium Falcon. Abrams is now much further into the post-production of Episode VII, so we can expect to see much more this time around. One thing is for sure, whichever film ends up on top in 2015 it's going to be a good year for Disney.
Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in the UK on the 23rd of April and Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on the 18th of December 2015.
