Nakamichi has announced a new and improved version of its Shockwafe Ultra soundbar system, with the 9.2 eARC boasting all-new Spatial Surround Elevation (SSE) MAX technology for a more accomplished 360-degree sound.
The SSE Max technology uses three sound processing engines to heighten the multi-dimensional surround experience across the system, which comes with two wireless subs and four modular two-way surround speakers. As the name suggests, the new model also comes with eARC connectivity as well as boasting Qualcomm’s aptX HD as a world first.
The bar itself has had a bit of a redesign, with new extended-range twin cone drivers and silk dome tweeters that can also now be found its accompanying surround speakers. This comes on top of the existing features that made Nakamichi’s previous iteration popular, including its dual 10-inch subwoofers (now upgraded to 600W and as deep as 20Hz) and support for the likes of DTS:X, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision.
If the name is new on you, Nakamichi was founded in Japan way back in 1948, and now has offices in the US. The company has seen its way through the cassette decks and turntables of the Seventies and Eighties, rising up through the CD players of the Nineties, before seemingly finding a very successful place in the modern market with its range of soundbar systems. Back in 2016, its Shockwafe Pro 7.1 system very much did what it says on the tin, followed in 2018 by 7.2 and 9.2 models and in 2019 by the Shockwafe Ultra 9.2.4 SSE, that this new release is built upon.
According to the company, this next step forwards reflects everything its customers wanted to see in its 2022 model, with its newly-crowned flagship soundbar “the new reference of plug-and-play home theatre, enabling owners to enjoy a movie, music and gaming surround experience unmatched by any soundbar system.”
The Shockwafe Ultra 9.2 eARC is priced at $1,899 (around £1,450) and will be made available through “select retailers” (including Amazon’s US site but with limited delivery options). If you are interested, you might want to check out the Nakamichi website to find out more.
