British Hi-Fi specialist, Naim Audio, will roll out Apple AirPlay 2 and Siri to its ND 555, NDX 2 and ND5 XS 2 network streamers via a free over-the-air update.

Following similar updates to its Mu-so and Uniti ranges, this means that the company’s entire range of music-streaming products, including its £20k flagship reference network player, will now be enabled for multi-room functionality and smart voice control.

With the addition of Apple’s AirPlay 2 technology, Naim’s network streamers can now receive music wirelessly from Apple devices such as iPhones, iPads, Mac computers/laptops and the Apple TV set top box. A variety of sources are compatible including Apple Music, Spotify, TIDAL, YouTube, internet radio and podcasts - all controlled via Apple’s Home app, Control Centre or Siri voice commands. The Apple devices must all be running iOS/MacOS version 11.4 or later. When the update becomes available, Naim owners will be prompted to initiate the over-the-air update via their Naim app.

AirPlay 2 supports multi-room streaming and listeners can playback audio throughout their home via any device that supports Apple’s protocol (Naim or otherwise). Another benefit of AirPlay 2 is enhanced buffering which improves audio streaming performance across the network

A versatile streamer with high quality sonics.

Naim Audio ND5 XS 2 (£2,299 / $2,799)
