MOON 680D streaming DAC to be distributed in UK by Renaissance Audio
SRP: £8,900.00

Simaudio’s ever expanding MOON audio devices cover integrated amplifiers, CD Players, power amplifiers and many other categories of products close to audiophile hearts. Now the company’s Moon 680D streaming DAC will soon be hitting UK shores courtesy of Renaissance Audio.

Joining a whole host of fellow MOON products distributed by Renaissance, the 680D is a future proofed streaming DAC that boasts a luxury look and feel with the signature MOON design and features plenty of high end connectivity plus the MiND 2 streaming module.

The 680D has taken design and technology cues from its award winning sibling, the 780D v2, and features the materials, build and performance to deliver both as an accomplished digital-to-analogue converter and feature-packed network streamer.

All the digital inputs feature full MQA decoding and there’s support for PCM files up to 32 bit / 384kHz and native DSD decoding up to DSD256 which means the 680D can deal with most digital sources.

The network streaming side of the device incorporates the MiND (MOON intelligent Network Device) streaming module designed to stream music from a digital library (such as one found on a computer or NAS drive) to an audio system. It can also stream content from its integrated premium music services, which include TIDAL Masters, Qobuz Sublime+ and Deezer Hi-Fi. Bluetooth aptX is onboard so music on smart phones and tablets can be accessed too. For absolute stability, an Ethernet port is available too and the device is Roon ready.

The 680D can be paired with any amplifier with great results assured but it has been designed and tuned to perform at its absolute peak when paired with the 600i v2 integrated amplifier, where it can take advantage of the full system control available through the bespoke app.

John Carroll of Renaissance said, ‘The 680D streaming DAC is the response to the many requests we have had from both consumers and retailers who wanted to get close to the performance and flexibility of the 780D v2, but at a more affordable price point. The 780D v2 remains our reference performer, but with the 680D we now have a perfect partner for the 600i v2 amplifier!
