M&K Sound launches V+ Series subwoofers

Increased power output and enhanced performance

by Andy Bassett

Three new compact subwoofers, the V15+, V12+ and V10+ models, bring a lifestyle friendly design and THX certification to the home.

After M&K announced its X+ Series of subwoofers at the end of 2021, it’s now the time for the company's V range of subs to get a revamp, with three new V+ models announced.

The high-performance V15+, V12+ and V10+ subwoofers feature a small living-space friendly footprint and individually sport single 15-, 12- and 10-inch drivers with newly treated, reinforced paper cones in sealed, anti-resonant enclosures. Additionally, the high-efficiency, precision-engineered Class D amplifiers have had a power boost with the V10+ and V12+ both gaining 100W RMS, taking their outputs to 300W RMS / 600W peak and 400W RMS and 800W peak respectively. Meanwhile the V15+ represents the first 15-inch driver enclosure to join the V family of products and comes in with 500W RMS and 1000W of peak power.

M&K’s proprietary ‘front end’ input stage ensures that the signature bass performance is not just heard by the audience, but felt as well and the V10+ and V12+ have had their deep bass frequency response extended from 25Hz (on the former V12 and V10 models) down to 20Hz (-6dB).

Last year’s X+ Series of subwoofers were all THX Dominus certified and the V15+ and V12+ also gain accreditation with the V15+ attaining THX Certified Ultra status when using two M&K V15+ subwoofers and the V12+ achieving THX Certified Select status. This means that consumers can hear movie soundtracks with high-fidelity audio integrity as the filmmakers intended in rooms up to 3,000ft3 (V15+) and 2,000ft3 (V12+).

Compatible with the downloadable M&K App (Apple Store and Google Play Store), both the V15+ and V12+ can be optimised from the sweet spot seating position such that volume, crossover frequency, delay and phase can all be controlled remotely.

The App also provides onboard control options to set up Manual EQ and Auto EQ parameters. Manual EQ allows users to adjust frequency, gain and the ‘Q’ of four independent EQs while Auto EQ corrects for acoustical room anomalies by taking measurements in and around the prime listening position. The App then applies acoustical corrections to deliver optimised listening conditions and reference bass performance in any home environment.

Per Becher, Chief Executive Officer, M&K Sound, commented, “With ever more demand for reference bass performance in living rooms and small home cinemas, we believed it was time to overhaul our hugely successful V Series subwoofers to develop the new V+ Series for a wider, décor-conscious, and discerning audience.”

The V+ Series subwoofers come with new curved and tapered external housings, magnetised front grilles and are available in Black Satin finish, while the V10+ and V12+ are also available in a White Satin luxury finish.

The M&K Sound V+ Series Subwoofers will be available in February 2022 from authorised M&K Sound dealers at MSRP US $1,499 (V10+), $1,899 (V12+) and $3,199 (V15+). Price and availability for other territories has not yet been announced.
