Microsoft re-launch OneDrive Cloud Storage Service

7GB of free storage plus incentivised bonus space offered on Windows, iOS and Android

by Mark Hodgkinson Feb 19, 2014

  • Microsoft has re-launched its cloud storage service OneDrive today, with a few new features to rival the likes of Dropbox and Google Drive.
Amongst the new capabilities are automatic camera backup for Android devices and the ability to share and view videos just as easily as photos.

OneDrive gives an impressive 7GB of free storage but Microsoft has launched an incentive scheme that will allow you to earn more. By referring friends, you can receive up to 5 GB (in 500 MB increments) for each friend who accepts an invitation. And for using the camera backup feature, alone, Microsoft will give you another 3 GB.

Of course, there is the option to pay for additional storage too.

Microsoft has built OneDrive into the latest versions of Windows, Windows Phone, Office, and Xbox, as well as there being apps for both iOS and Android.

To celebrate the official launch of OneDrive, Microsoft we will also give 100,000 people 100 GB of free storage for 1 year so today might be a good day to sign up and follow @OneDrive for ‘clues’
