  • Marantz has officially announced its flagship SR8012 AV Receiver for the UK market
The SR8012 is Marantz’s first ever 11.2-channel AV receiver and supersedes the 9-channel, SR7012 at the top of the manufacturer’s pecking order. Its symmetrical monolithic amplifier design gives it 11 identical amplifier channels, each delivering 205W per channel and the design also brings to the Marantz AV receiver line-up a large toroidal transformer, mounted centrally for mechanical balance, a copper plated chassis, selected audio components throughout and high-grade speaker terminals.

The SR8012 has 8 HDMI inputs, including one on the front panel for quick connection, and an ‘advanced video section’ supporting the latest HDMI specifications including 4K Ultra HD 60Hz video, 4:4:4 Pure Colour sub-sampling, High Dynamic Range (HDR10), 21:9 video, Rec.2020, 3D and Dolby Vision pass-through on every input, with pass-through for HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), to be supported via a future firmware update. There are three HDMI outputs, including two for the main zone, so you can run a TV and projector in parallel, and one for a second zone.

In terms of object-based audio formats, the SR8012 boasts support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Auro 3D. The receiver's 11 high-quality amplifier stages enhance audio quality via high grade audio components including Marantz Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules, or HDAMs, used in a Current Feedback topology. The SR8012 uses advanced Marantz sound-tuning throughout, drawing in features from the company's Reference two-channel models.

The new receiver also sports HEOS multiroom capability, allowing you to listen around the home from your local music library, online streaming music services, or thousands of internet radio stations, using the free HEOS app.

The SR8012 begins shipping in December 2017 with a choice of Black or Silver finishes and will retail for £2,699.
