LG G Pad 8.3 launching next week in S Korea
UK by end of 2013, hopefully
LG's latest attempt to cash-in on the global tablet phenomena, the G Pad 8.3, is releasing next week in Korea with a wider launch to 30 another country's before year end.The 8.3-inch slate packs a Full HD (1920x1200) IPS (of course) display and will run Android 4.2.2, out of the box. It will be powered along by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB of RAM and features a 500-megapixel rear-facing camera with a 1.3 megapixel one mounted on the front for video chat.
Message integration with phone feature expected to help salesIncluded out of the box is a feature that allows users to check and send messages received by their Android smartphone from the tablet, which they are hoping will give it some differential in an increasingly crowded marketplace. There are already apps that do just that on Google Play, of course, but this is the first bundled functionality of this type that we know of.
We fully expect the UK will be one of the 30 countries to see the LG G Pad in 2013 although pricing is as yet unknown. For what it's worth, the pre-order price in S Korea translates to about £320
