LG Display presents latest OLED screens at CES 2022

LG Display has used CES 2022 to present a range of its latest OLED displays as it continues to propagate the technology in a number of areas.

Of course, TV screens are where LG Display’s OLED technology garners the most interest among AV enthusiasts and the South Korean display innovator has a few new examples on show at CES 2022.

The most important development is the new OLED EX panel which delivers up to 30-percent more brightness through an improved deuterium manufacturing process and enhanced algorithms. We looked at this new step forward in a previous news story.

Having introduced an 88-inch 8K OLED for the first time at CES 2019, the company has now unveiled a slightly more accommodating 77-inch 8K OLED display. This new display has 33 million pixels to realise ultra-high-resolution images more accurately and from almost any angle.

But large sized OLED TV screens don’t stop at 77- and 88-inches and there was a new 97-inch behemoth on show which also graced parent company LG Electronics’ new G2 range of OLED TVs at the largest sized end. This screen represents the world’s first 97-inch OLED TV display and is intended to lead the large-sized display market - though surely adding another three inches would have made an infinitely more marketable "100-inch panel"! It supports 4K UHD and takes immersion to a whole new level with its overwhelming size and ultra-high resolution. Furthermore, the company claims it evokes the emotions of watching a movie on the big screen of a cinema while in the comfort of your own home.

LG Display has also introduced its Gaming OLED displays at CES 2022 with plans for 42-inch and 48-inch later in 2022. These are optimised for gaming conditions, and the glare free-certified displays allow players to focus perfectly on the game even in various luminous environments.

With response times up to 10 times faster than LCDs and with no inverse ghosting, the clear and vivid image quality reduces eye fatigue even if you focus for a long time.

There’s a surprising vision for the notebook industry too with LG Display’s 17-inch Foldable OLED for laptops. This innovative 17-inch Foldable OLED is almost entirely crease-free at the point of folding, letting users enjoy one device in various ways – from a tablet to a laptop to even a portable monitor. Equipped with the company’s touchscreen solutions, the screen can be used with either a pen or fingers depending on preference or the task at hand.

Away from OLED technology , LG Display presented IPS Black, its high-end, borderless design LCD technology for IT professionals. IPS Black has 35-percent deeper blacks than existing IPS products and doubles the contrast ratio. With these upgrades, true-to-life clarity and more accurate colours can be expressed.

IPS Black was certified for excellence in contrast ratio, viewing angle, and low blue light emissions in October, 2021 by TUV Rheinland, a recognised German certification provider and is therefore suitable for lengthy work sessions. LG Display unveiled its IPS Black technology at CES 2022 through a 27-inch UHD monitor.
