Harman Kardon launches Citation Amp

Kvadrat-free Citation product shocker

by Andy Bassett

The Citation amp is a high power, wireless streaming stereo amplifier from Harman Kardon and is the latest addition to the company’s wireless home entertainment products.

The Citation streaming amp can either be used to power existing speakers or combined with Harman Kardon’s Scandanavian-flavoured, Kvadrat-adorned Citation products such as the Citation Surround Speakers and Citation Sub S to create an immersive multi-channel surround sound system. Connection to a compatible TV using the built-in HDMI ARC input allows control of the sound with your existing TV remote.

With 200W per channel (4 ohms) of Class D power, the Citation amp uses Digital Loop Amplifier technology to correct any digitally induced anomalies and there are also plenty of audio performance adjustments that can be made such EQ, Maximum Volume, Mono Summing and Variable Subwoofer Crossover to suit personal taste and listening environment.

Chromecast built-in means over 300 streaming services can be browsed to find music, internet radio and podcasts, while AirPlay 2 support means users can access their favorite playlists from Apple Music.

As well as streaming audio, the RCA aux in and optical and coaxial digital inputs allow connection to existing hardware music sources.

The small footprint (215 x 75 x 230mm - W x H x D), light weight (2.4kg) and unassuming finish mean the Citation amp can be unobtrusively and flexibly placed around the home.

The Harman Kardon press release is quoted below:

Cambridgeshire, UK – OCTOBER 21, 2020 – The new Harman Kardon Citation Amp adds the power of HD streaming to home entertainment systems. Powering bookshelf, floor standing, in-wall or in-ceiling speakers, or combining with other Harman Kardon Citation products creates a multi-channel wireless surround sound system. Designed to effortlessly blend into any environment, the discrete yet premium Citation Amp can be installed anywhere. It’s compatible with popular connected home automation control systems including both Control4 and Crestron. The culmination of Harman Kardon’s 65 years as the world’s foremost purveyor of high-fidelity audio products, the Citation Amp features Harman Kardon Digital Loop amplification.
