Han Solo gets standalone Star Wars film
StarWars.com has confirmed rumours that the next Star Wars Anthology film will feature a young Han Solo.
The as yet untitled film was written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan and will be produced and directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord. The film was originally going to be directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle, Fantastic Four) but he left after deciding he'd rather direct his own original material. The choice of the currently hot Lord and Miller is an interesting one but to date they have only made comedies (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 and 22 Jump Street and The Lego Movie), albeit very successful ones.

Although the actual story isn't known yet, we can hope to see Chewbacca and possibly even a young Lando Calrissian in the film. If Lord and Miller can get the right balance of fun and action, then this could be another interesting side project after Gareth Edwards' Rogue One 'team on a mission' war picture. Whilst it's a shame we're not getting the rumoured bounty hunter movie, there's no reason why they couldn't also be in a standalone Han Solo film and we could see Boba Fett and possibly Jabba the Hutt as well.

The key will be casting the right actor to play Han Solo and it won't be easy finding an actor with the charm and swagger of a 1977 Harrison Ford. Although Anthony Ingruber, who played the young Ford in The Age of Adaline, certainly looked a lot like the actor, so maybe he's in the running? There's bound to be more news soon but be patient because the film itself isn't scheduled for release until the 25th of May 2018.

What do you think, is this good news or are Disney milking the Star Wars franchise to death?
