Falcon Acoustics has introduced the IMF100, the first of six build-your-own loudspeaker models.
Launched under the company’s Complete@Home initiative, the home assembly kits will offer high quality speakers at less than half the price of an ‘out of the box’ equivalent for just a small amount of the listener’s time to put them together. There’s no soldering, all the necessary tools are provided and the build is supported by a YouTube tutorial video.
The first Complete@Home model on offer is the IMF100 which is a two way speaker and the kit includes Falcon drive units, Italian birch ply cabinets and Falcon factory-assembled pre-wired crossovers. Completion time is estimated at around half an hour.
Hailing from the same factory as the renowned Falcon Acoustics BBC LS3/5a, the IMF100 is a two-way 1/8th wave transmission line system. The similarities with the LS3/5a continue with the use of matched pairs of Falcon B110 and T27 drive units which lead to a similar voicing to the famous forebear but with extra bass extension.
The IMF100 system uses parts that are exclusively sourced and manufactured in the UK/EU for the best quality and consistency and the kit also includes precision CNC-engineered B110 retaining rings, precision-matched Falcon crossovers and full production-grade birch ply cabinets, made in Italy from natural walnut or rosewood veneers.
