Eclipsing the competition?

  • From 22nd - 24th February 2019, Japanese speaker manufacturer, ECLIPSE, are giving you the opportunity to hear their unique loudspeaker technologies at the Bristol Hi-Fi Show.
Throughout the three-day event, visitors will be able to audition the TD510ZMK2 loudspeaker and the TD520SW subwoofer in a 2.1 speaker configuration.

The TD510ZMK2 (‘Z’ denoting the integrated ECLIPSE stand) offers many of the key design elements of the flagship, TD712ZMK2, just in a more compact and affordable package. The speaker includes the full array of ECLIPSE’s proprietary loudspeaker technologies, including; the egg-shaped cabinet which helps eliminate standing waves since no two radial surfaces are in the same plane, a 10cm custom full-range driver supported by a highly flexible surround and damping system to provide precise piston movement, plus several internal vibration-eliminating engineering solutions.

An important part of the overall setup is the ECLIPSE designed and engineered die-cast aluminium stand which further eliminates unwanted vibrations and ensures tighter low frequencies. It has a streamlined, forward-slanting form which prevents the disturbance of air flow, plus the stand also benefits from extensive internal damping combined with high-density, sand-loading.

The stand also offers useful angle adjustments of -10 to +15 degrees, adding convenient flexibility to help suit the listening environment.

ECLISPE’s TD520SW subwoofer has been designed to complement the company’s smaller loudspeakers and augments the lower frequencies, whether playing music or video soundtracks.

It houses two 20cm back-to-back drive units within its compact design - which allows for flexible placement - and which can be driven at high speed to improve transient delivery and timing accuracy. A compact high-output digital power amplifier is also employed, which allows for a smaller internal circuit, while keeping high linearity at maximum output.

The TD520SW is equipped with two input systems, each provided with an independent audio volume and low-pass filter enabling flexibility in stereo or surround mode.

In addition to demoing the speakers, ECLIPSE’s senior team, joined by distributor Decent Audio’s sales team, will be describing the overall benefits of ECLIPSE’s approach to loudspeaker design and engineering, plus explaining the advantages of its many proprietary technologies. The team will also be on hand throughout the weekend to answer questions, offer advice and explain how ECLIPSE can integrate into any audio system.

TD510ZMK2 speaker (pair incl. stand) £3,840; TD520SW subwoofer (£3,000); available now.
