Denon introduces PMA-600NE amplifier and DCD-600NE CD player
Denon’s latest home entertainment entries bring 2-channel Hi-Fi sounds at affordable prices in the form of the 600 series PMA-600NE integrated amplifier and DCD-600NE CD player.
Of potential interest for CD music aficionados will be Denon’s latest 2-channel Hi-Fi audio products. Working together as a pair, or individually if required, the PMA-600NE Integrated Amplifier with Bluetooth and the DCD-600NE CD Player combine carefully chosen components and over 100 years of design and engineering innovation to create products that are ideal as building blocks to begin a Hi-Fi system or to slot into an existing setup.

CD is still the planet’s most successful audio format and with a total of around 671 billion discs sold it’s a fair bet that there are still plenty of music fans who are happy to keep their CD libraries on frequent rotation. Those looking for an affordable CD player may find the Denon DCD-600NE of interest.

It supports CD, CD-R/RW, MP3 and WMA formats and features Denon AL32 Processing technology to ensure discs always sound their best. The player itself features a clean audio signal thanks to a circuit design engineered to make signal paths as short as possible. The short circuit paths and layered circuit boards reduce the interference between left and right channels and keep the audio signal true to the original recording.

Additionally, the DCD-600NE’s power transformers are fitted above the insulators to prevent unwanted vibration and Pure Direct Mode helps prevent any colouring of the sounds by deactivating the front display and feeding the sound directly to the amplifier.

Powering the DCD-600NE CD player is Denon’s 600 series partner of choice, the PMA-600NE Integrated Amplifier though, of course, most other two channel amps would work. However, Denon has gone to great lengths to make sure the 600 series components eliminate interference and maintain quality sound reproduction and, as such, the amp and CD player are a perfect match for each other both sonically and aesthetically.

The PMA-600NE Integrated Amplifier delivers 70 watts of power-per-channel (4ohm, 1kHz, THD 0.7%, 2 channel) using Denon’s Advanced High Current (AHC) single push-pull circuit power amplification technology.

Connectivity is supplied by Bluetooth which enables streaming and is underpinned by a 24-bit/192kHz digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) similar to Denon’s 800 and 1600 series models. Physical I/O comes courtesy of five analogue inputs, including a MM Phono input featuring a new high-gain EQ circuit, two optical inputs and one coaxial input.

Selecting Analogue Mode disables the digital inputs and Bluetooth connectivity and switches the PMA-600NE so it operates as a purely analogue amp. Removal of these high frequency digital influences on the analogue selection provides improved clarity and musical fidelity for analogue sources.

Construction of the amplifier circuit includes careful selection of components to support a circuit design which secures a frequency response of up to 100kHz, thus ensuring a large dynamic range. In addition, the main power transformer has separate coiled wires for the audio and control circuits and an integrated micro-processor that features a Stop Mode.

The design of the amplifier’s chassis features direct mechanical sound construction and also incorporates a proprietary Signal Level Divided Construction (SLDC). This minimizes vibration and the effects of the surrounding environment to help bring out the sonic nuances of the music.

Shinichi Yamauchi, sound master at Denon commented, “No product leaves the Denon factory until it has the Sound Master seal of approval, for which our team in Japan meticulously listens to every product to ensure the voicing and build quality is consistent with other Denon New Era series products.

Yamauchi continued, “The new 600 series products have the same precise, clean and powerful Denon sound because they have the same Hi-Fi engineering concept, including advanced components, circuitry, amplification, and layout as other Denon Hi-Fi products. The overall aesthetic, sound quality and design integrity of the PMA-600NE is unparalleled at the price.

The PMA-600NE (£349) and DCD-600NE (£249) will be available in September 2019 at authorized Denon retailers.
