Deezer spatial audio comes to Sony wireless speakers

360 Reality Audio occupying more space on Deezer

by Andy Bassett

New ‘360 by Deezer’ feature delivers full surround sound on Sony’s SRS-RA5000 and RA3000 Reality Audio speakers.

Music streaming service Deezer is rolling out a new feature for its premium HiFi tier subscribers. From today, users can experience spatial audio at home on more than just headphones by using the new ‘360 by Deezer' cast feature.

Simply opening the ‘360 by Deezer’ app - available for both iOS and Android devices - allows HiFi users to pick a favourite track and select the ‘cast’ button to play the song in full Reality Audio glory on either the Sony SRS-RA5000 or RA3000 wireless speakers.

Sony’s 360 Reality Audio is an audio format, similar to Dolby Atmos Music used by Apple Music, that sees the individual instruments and voices that make up a song treated as discrete objects so they can be placed anywhere within a full 360 degree virtual auditorium. This provides a more immersive experience, almost as if the artist is performing right there in front of the listener.

Deezer is offering a growing library of music and albums from artists such as Doja Cat, David Bowie and Alicia Keys which have all been remastered in the 360 Reality Audio format, via its 360 by Deezer app. Fans can also discover dedicated 360 editorial playlists in the app’s recommendation page and the service also recently launched its 360 Sessions playlist which features live performances from Dua Lipa, Anne-Marie, Circa Waves and more.

A Deezer spokesperson commented, “We know our HiFi fans appreciate every detail and emotions that can be felt through 360 Reality Audio. Now, with Our ‘360 by Deezer’ app, all they have to do is hit cast to have the home experience of their dreams.”

The new '360 by Deezer' feature moves full surround sound music away from just headphones where the experience is readily available on most standard models plus some optimised Sony models, to a full speaker driven experience, albeit specifically with Sony’s two Reality Audio compatible wireless speakers.

However, if you don’t own the SRS-RA5000 or RA3000 wireless speakers you can still benefit from the '360 by Deezer' custom playlists on other speakers in regular premium audio quality.
