  • Zappiti is using CES 2015 as the launch pad for its new 4K media player.
The Zappiti Player 4K, for that is its name, applies the company’s expertise in video, allowing users to play 4K content (both 3840×2160 and 4096x2160) by using the new DivX UHD HEVC codec. It also features enhanced Ultra HD upscaling from Full HD video content with upgraded image quality and auto frame rate for smooth playback of all your content.

Zappati claims, due to the last new powerful Realtek RTD1195 processor, the Zappiti Player 4K is the World’s first Android Box compatible with HD sound such as DTS-HD in full passthrough mode. The box comes with Kodi (XBMC) pre-installed and has the capacity for up to 6TB of storage 3.S" SATA HDDs.

Additionally, the new Zappiti Player 4K uses the Media Centre solution named ‘Zappiti Media Center V4’. This allows the media player to analyse your movie collection and grab movie covers to generate an attractive GUI. And it can do socomputer free! So you can scan all your movies and fully control Zappiti Media Center features on your TV through your Zappiti Player 4K with your remote control.

Zappiti Media Center is widely trusted and widely used in Europe, allowing us to create a feature-rich and easy to install smart Media Center Solution integrated into our new Media Player. We have been offering customers successful solutions based on differentiated technology and we will continue our efforts in providing win-win solutions for customers in 2015,” said Christophe Cherel, Head of Smart Home Division at Zappiti.

It is critical for us to continue to enhance our offerings and provide high-value solutions to consumers, that enables users to gain peace of mind with better audio and video experience and enjoy the benefits of a more connected, smarter Media Center. Our new Zappiti Player 4K will pass a new step in Media Center market to make 2015 the breakout year for Media Players.”

They are priced at 249 Euros on Zapatti's webpage so they are definitely not the cheapest Android media players, although the spec is impressive.
