CES 2014: TP-Link has a new Gigabit Powerline Solution
Not the most glamorous product to emerge from CES 2014 but the new TP-LINK TL-PA8010 AV1000 Gigabit Powerline Adapter could certainly be a very useful one.
Featuring the latest HomePlug AV2 standard, the device is claimed to provide real gigabit throughput over a home or office’s existing electrical wiring. The obvious use-case scenarios would be piping HD video and online gaming in a room that doesn’t have its own internet connection.
Ideal for HD streaming and online gaming
The TL-PA8010 is also interoperable with Powerline Adapters at various connection speeds, including 200, 500, 600 and 900Mbps, and is features TP-LINK’s usual easy set up. Simply plug the Powerline Adapters into available power outlets and hook one up to your router and away you go.

Other notable features include, a 300 metre range over electrical wiring, 128-bit AES encryption and support for GMP managed multicast IP transmission, to optimise IPTV streaming.

The product will be available in the second quarter of 2014 but we don’t have a price yet..
