Cabasse launches limited edition Pearl Pelegrina speaker

First buyer gets lifetime warranty

To celebrate 70 years of acoustic legacy, French Hi-Fi innovators Cabasse has revealed the Pearl Pelegrina connected speaker, which will be available in a limited edition run of just 70 pairs.

Reflecting the scarcity of its limited edition nature, the Pearl Pelegrina takes its place at the head of the company’s Pearl Collection and appropriates its name from a rare 55-carat pearl that was dubbed “the Incomparable”. Each of the 70 speaker pairs that will be made available will bear a numbered plaque to certify its exclusivity.

Having honed its technological innovations over the last fifteen years since it unveiled its first active speaker in 2006, Cabasse has embraced the emergence of high-resolution music and the Pearl Pelegrina represents its flagship system for the high-end connected audio market.

As an innovator in coaxial speaker technology, the Pelegrina sees Cabasse incorporate its famous TCA (tri-coaxial aramid) speaker - comprising high, medium, and low-medium drivers - into a spherical housing only 42cm in diameter but which is capable of the highest level of performance. Moreover, since its inclusion in the earlier SPHERE model, the TCA has been further improved by the latest DSP developments (Digital Signal Processing).

The TCA driver setup is further enhanced by the inclusion of a new 30 cm patented HELD driver amplified by 1850W RMS. In all, there are four separate amplifiers totalling 3700W RMS, powering the first quadricoaxial connected speaker featured in Cabasse’s catalogue.

The company claims the result is high precision and purity with an impressive dynamic capacity reaching 134dB (the equivalent noise level of aircraft at take-off).

The Pelegrina features a 768kHz DAC that can handle a multitude of file types including MP3, AAC, WMA, AIFF, FLAC, ALAC, Ogg, DSD 64/128 and WMA lossless, with sources connecting via Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, S/PDIF optical and RCA inputs. A Hi-Res multi room setup is also possible.

There’s also the CRCS automatic room correction system which uses a speaker-integrated microphone to enable sound optimisation according to the listener’s environment.

Conceived, custom-built, paired and tested by the Cabasse’s team in Brittany, the Pearl Pelegrina features exclusive materials, a luxurious glossy black or white finish and the company’s signature polished mirror metal band. The speaker stands at almost 130cm with its distinctive Lissajous curve stand and the base, measuring 48cm in diameter, contains the miniaturised electronic components.

The limited edition package includes the Stream CONTROL app, a Bluetooth remote, floor spikes, a cover and a brand book, and the first purchaser will receive a lifetime warranty on the speakers.

The Cabasse Pearl Pelegrina will be available in France from October 2021 at an RRP of €25,000 per pair.
