Black Friday and Cyber Monday UK 2019: Deals and Bargains

Bargains in store ….deals online

by Andy Bassett

Now a well established feature of the UK seasonal sales schedule, the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend starts on Friday November 29th this year.

Effectively signalling the start of the festive shopping season - as it has done in the US since the early 1950s when the first Friday following Thanksgiving gave weary shoppers a way to spend their way out of their hangovers - Black Friday and, latterly, Cyber Monday give shoppers the opportunity to get hold of bargains, deals and discounts on a huge variety of goods.

Even though the focus is on the two titular sale days, some retailers start their campaigns earlier to attract value hungry shoppers and there are some that are already throwing out bargain breadcrumbs - so it's worth checking the links below on a regular basis.

Last year's Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales delivered a reported £7 billion cash injection into the UK economy, with online retailers benefiting the most and Amazon not surprisingly coming out on top here. However, high street shops such as Currys, Argos, John Lewis as well as other online retailers such as Very and AO all offer big discounts. Most of the major supermarkets hold Black Friday sales too.

Typically, a limited amount of a particular product will go on sale at an allotted time, often at headline grabbing prices to attract attention and internet traffic. In other words, some deals are definitely more attractive than others, so you'll need to be on the ball to grab those.
