BenQ W1700 4K, HDR & 3D Projector announced
BenQ has announced the launch of the W1700, a sub £2,000 DLP projector with support for Ultra HD, HDR and 3D.
“The W1700 brings the magic of 4K widescreen digital cinema to the mainstream, "said Conway Lee, president of BenQ Corporation. " Anyone can now enjoy spectacular 4K movie nights, with advanced audio-visual enhancements and HDR at an incredible price."
The W1700 uses the DLP 0.47 DMD DLP technology to reduce the size of the projector for modern lifestyles, and a 4K optimised optical system for image accuracy and colour accuracy without artifacts. We understand that the W1700 uses a Texas Instrument chipset with a native 1080p resolution so will use pixel shifting tech to create the UHD image – it pretty much had to be at this price-point!
The 4K video quality of the W1700 includes high dynamic range (HDR10) support together with HDCP 2.2 copy protection. The W1700 uses BenQ CinematicColor's exclusive technology and RGBRGB colour wheel with 96% coverage of Rec.709 .
The W1700 comes equipped with automatic keystone correction and a 1.2X zoom You can turn it in to a smart projector by connecting an HDMI dongle such as Google Chromecast or Amazon Fire TV Stick, says BenQ
It’s powered by Digital Light Processing, an Oscar winning technology, used in 90% of the world's digital cinemas, and the release promises that the W1700 delivers long-lasting image quality with precise colour and exceptional sharpness without maintenance or degradation.
The BenQ W1700 is scheduled to release in January 2018 for
a whisker under £2,000.
Update 14/11/2017: BenQ has confirmed the price will be £1599 so it's even better value!
