In case you didn’t know – and you probably did – Apple made the decision to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack in the iPhone 7 and iPhone Pro which immediately raised at least one concern, namely, how do you charge and listen to wired headphones simultaneously?
Step in Belkin, who has become the first manufacturer to launch a solution in the shape of the Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar; yes, that’s its actual product title.
The Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar plugs into the Lightning connector, making it possible to use Lightning Audio headphones or the Apple Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter and charge your iPhone at the same time. It’s a bit of an unwieldy looking dongle but we guess Belkin is just working with what is there. The adapter is designed to work with the full ecosystem of Lightning Audio headphones and there's no need to remove your phone case while using it.
The ‘RockStar’ supports pass-through charging up to 12W for iPhone and iPad, up to 48 kHz, 24-bit audio output and works with the Apple iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case and battery packs for on-the-go charging.
"We're excited to offer the Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar to our customers, extending our family of RockStar multi-port products and creating an easy way for people to charge and listen on the go," says Steve Malony, VP, GM Belkin.
The Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar is widely available, now, for around £35.
