It's been five months since the first full length trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice changed everyone's view of the superhero mash-up.The reaction to the news that Warners were planning to add Batman to their new cinematic universe was muted, in part because of the lukewarm response to Man of Steel. The first teaser piqued our interest, mainly due to the fact that the new film was clearly influenced by Frank Miller's seminal The Dark Knight Returns. However it was the full trailer that changed the game, putting the destruction at the end of Man of Steel into context and turning Batman v Superman into one of the most anticipated films of next year.
The new trailer is actually a bit disappointing, delivering a lot of rather obvious dialogue and way too many plot details, something the previous trailer was careful to avoid. So if you want to remain spoiler free, it's probably best not to watch it and whilst the arrival of Wonder Woman certainly looks cool, there's another character that looks disappointingly like a cross between the cave troll and the Balrog from Fellowship of the Ring. We still haven't seen Jason Momoa's Aquaman and we're still interested in the movie but, to be honest, we were more excited by last week's Captain America: Civil War teaser.
We'll have to wait until spring to find out which of the two superhero team-ups comes out on top but one thing is for sure, with Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, Civil War and Doctor Strange all coming out in 2016, it's going to be a big year for comic book movies.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on the 25th of March 2016.
