Danish speaker specialist Audiovector has announced the latest addition to its extensive collection, with the QR 7 set to head up its QR Series of speakers and “designed to put the fun back into playing music.”
The QR 7 takes on flagship status as a natural evolution over the likes of the other floor-standing models in the Series, the QR 3 and QR 5, and, like its siblings, is handmade in the company’s Copenhagen home. Standing 114cm tall, this stylish 300W speaker is described as having a “dynamic musical ability, and features the latest in speaker technologies to deliver that powerful performance.”
Among those features are two 8-inch air-shifting drivers with an all-new crossover to help its Q-port bass reflex system deliver a “hyper-dynamic, yet neutral-sounding speaker with a big, open soundstage.” The QR 7 boasts a full 3-way system with twin Pure Piston bass units with sandwich membranes, a 6-inch midrange and an Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter, and, of course, is highly compatible with the rest of the QR Series should you want to include a centre, sub or some additional wall speakers in the mix. Audiovector also points out that with a “gentle” impedance of 6 ohms and a “high efficiency” sensitivity of 90.5dB, the QR 7 is easily driven, and “a perfect match for both solid state and tube amplifiers.”
The speaker also boasts the company’s in-house engineered drivers, built in cooperation with its suppliers, housed within a high-density hardwood HDF enclosure that we’re assured delivers “superior strength, low resonance and elegant aesthetics”. The tweeter fascia plates are made from aerospace-grade aluminium with a rose gold-plated dispersion mesh designed as an S-Stop filter to improve driver integration.
The Audiovector QR 7 is available now, priced at £4,950 per pair, with a choice of a White Silk, Dark Walnut and Black Piano finish. You can find out more on this, the rest of the QR Series and others in the Audiovector portfolio, plus all of its regional retailers, on the company’s website. Coming in at the tail-end of the Munich High End show, plus with the likes of the KEF LS60 wireless speakers announced earlier in the month. there's no shortage of competition for the QR 7, so does it have enough to catch the eye?
