Audio-Technica launches ATH-M20xBT wireless headphones

BT 'phones' home...

by Ian Collen

Audio-Technica has announced the launch of its new ATH-M20xBT wireless over-ear headphones, offering up to 60 hours of playback.

The ATH-M20xBT is “inspired” by the company’s M Series of wired headphones geared for professional or studio use, using a “modern design and high-quality materials with effective sound isolation” to deliver accurate audio with maximum comfort. They come in at the more affordable end of the scale compared to the likes of the ATH-M50xBT (and its more recent BT2 variant), which does mean it's light on a few features but the £79 price tag should suitably compensate for that.

The Audio-Technica ATH-M20xBT headphones offer 60 hours of playback, enough for every episode of Better Call Saul released to date.

The headphones contain 40mm drivers made with rare earth magnets and copper-clad aluminium wire voice coils for improved clarity and an accurate bass response. There’s a Low Latency mode to ensure you don’t miss a beat if using them to watch movies or when gaming, and the ATH-M20xBT has a multipoint pairing capability to connect wirelessly via Bluetooth to two devices – so you can swap from your phone and the TV at will.

Audio-Technica is promising an impressive 60 hours of continuous use on a single charge, with three hours of playback from a quick 10-minute charge through its USB-C connection (up to four hours for a full charge). The headphones come with a microphone and control buttons built into the left ear for easy access, and boast of “professional-grade earpad and headband material for long-lasting durability and comfort”.
