Audio-Technica has announced the launch of a new arrival to its turntable range, with the black wooden veneer finish of the AT-LPW30BK available now.
Given the company’s previous knack of turning out a steady production line of quality turntables, such as the AT-LP5X we reviewed last year, it has been surprisingly quiet of late. Instead, we’ve seen a number of wearable audio solutions, such as the ATH-CKS50TW true wireless earphones or its new gaming headphones.
However, with the announcement of the AT-LPW30BK, Audio-Technica is very much playing to its rather more traditional markets. This stylish new black model joins the likes of the more natural wooden-looking teak finish of the AT-LPW30TK to give vinyl enthusiasts even more choice when it comes to finding an AT-LPW30 turntable that not only sounds good, but also fits perfectly into their surroundings.
According to the Japanese company, the two-speed, fully-manual, belt-driven turntable is “designed to deliver optimal high-fidelity audio reproduction from vinyl with a sleek, sophisticated style.” This stems from a wooden veneer plinth that limits low-frequency acoustic feedback while doing its best to look cool at the same time. This is helped by the straight aluminium tonearm and a built-in phono preamplifier that can be connected directly to your speakers for an all-round polished performance.
The AT-LPW30BK comes with a professional anti-resonance, die-cast aluminium platter with a rubber mat, and also boasts an adjustable dynamic anti-skate control. Other features include Audio-Technica’s AT-HS4 headshell and AT-VM95C Dual Moving Magnet phono cartridge with a 0.6mm bonded conical stylus – though it’s also compatible with any of the usual replacement options.
The Audio-Technica AT-LPW30BK is available now, priced at £289.99 (€339), with more information on the company’s website.
