AKG announces wireless Y600NC and Y400 headphones
MSRP: £199.00

AKG’s latest wireless headphones feature the noise cancelling Y600NC and the lightweight, foldable Y400 models.

Sporting the company’s signature studio-quality sound, AKG’s Y600NC and Y400 on-ear headphones have been optimised for a wide ranging listening audience, from audio experts to music enthusiasts.

The higher end Y600NC model features Active Noise Cancelling to ensure the amount of ambient noise that encroaches on the listening experience is under control, while still enabling awareness of the world around. The memory foam and protein leather ear-cushions are comfortable and also help to reduce ambient noise.

Control of the headphone is accessed via the AKG app which lets the user set performance parameters at the touch of a button. Wearers can select the ambient aware level and enable or customise the equaliser settings. Additionally, the app allows future proofing for the Y600NC with automatic firmware updates.

Hands-free calling is made clearer with dual-mic echo noise cancelling technology and the innovative rotating control makes it easy to change volume levels.

Battery life should easily get you through a full day, with 25 hours of playback quoted, even with ANC and Bluetooth turned on. If you do find yourself running low, a speed charge feature qives you 4 hours of playback from a 10 minute boost.

Meanwhile the smaller Y400 mini headphone might find favour with more ‘on-the-go’ types, given its folding nature and, at 170g, it’s almost half the weight of the larger Y600NC.

The smaller size doesn’t impact the battery performance too much though and the Y400 can keep going for 20 hours with Bluetooth active and still bounce back for 4 more hours after a 10 minute speed charge.

Both models benefit from Talk Thru Technology and Ambient Aware which helps deliver clearer calls by striking the perfect balance between noise cancellation and ambient awareness while also eliminating unwanted echoes.

Additionally, both the Y600NC and the Y400 use Automatic Play and Pause technology to detect when the headphones have been removed thus pausing playback. Music automatically resumes when the headphones are placed back over the ears.

James Kitto, Vice-President of Sales for Samsung UK & Ireland, commented, “We’re proud to unveil a new pair of headphones which play homage to AKG’s legacy of innovation and leadership in the audio space. These will bring studio-quality design and engineering to customers everywhere, whilst allowing users to enjoy music exactly how it was intended to be heard by the artist – perfectly balanced and true-to-life.”
