Absolute Sounds prepares upcoming Hi-Fi launches

Absolute Sounds have a suite of high end audio companies under its wing, all with plans to launch new hardware, and while Covid-19 may have changed the method of launch, the lineup of exciting new products remains the same.

Without the disastrous effect of the coronavirus on both lives and livelihoods around the world, planned product launches for 2020 would have taken place very differently, many at long-in-the-planning events and showcases.

One of these events would have been Munich High End, where Absolute Sounds was planning to unveil hardware from its line up of prestigious audio brands. Of course, Munich was cancelled but that hasn't stopped the distributor from readying the upcoming release of its latest audio innovations during the early summer period.

Copland CSA100

This new integrated amplifier from Danish firm Copland sees a fusion of valve and solid-state designed to deliver the best of both worlds.

Using its synectic design concept, the CSA100 employs solid-state power amp circuitry to supply 2x100W, fed by double-triode valve preamplification for a combination of power, drive, dynamics and natural tonality without colouration.

For the vinyl enthusiast the CSA100 has RIAA input for MM cartridges. The amplifier also employs a D/A converter with multiple S/PDIF inputs, PCM, and DSD capabilities using the ES9018 Reference 32-bit DAC in quad-mono configuration, 8 mono to 2 stereo configuration.

Franco Serblin Accordo Essence

The late Italian designer Franco Serblin put his name to both Hi-Fi speaker company Sonus Faber and the self monikered company that will release the Accordo Essence three way floorstanding loudspeaker.

Using a hand-crafted, vented cabinet that employs a super-rigid, arch-shaped solid wood structure and decoupled aluminium-magnesium parts, unwanted resonance is brought under control.

The drivers include a 29mm silk dome tweeter by renowned transducer designer Ragnar Lian and a custom made,150 mm microspheres cone mid-woofer. The woofer is a 180 mm microspheres cone complete with an aluminium dust cap.

The cross-over unit provides completely phase accurate transitions between drivers to preserve the recordings spatial information.

Jadis JS1 MkV and JS2 Mk IV

French value experts Jadis has unveiled the latest versions of its JS1 and JS2 digital-to-analogue converters in its pursuit of the most musical reference tube DACs available.

Both models combine valves with state-of-the-art digital technology to produce superior high end DACs. The JS1 MkV uses one AKM 4497 converter per channel, controlled by data processing and digital power management microcontrollers.

Meanwhile the JS2 uses new generation AKM DAC chips and a balanced analogue stage to reduce noise as much as possible.

Wilson Audio Pedestal

Wilson Audio is an American high end audio manufacturing company that undertakes composite research for loudspeaker enclosures. One of its latest innovations is a set of ‘isolation feet’ to place under audio components – from turntables and digital source components to amplifiers and power supplies, but not, it should be noted, under loudspeakers – preventing even the merest hint of external vibration from affecting performance.
