Steve, a couple of questions regarding the Panasonic TX-L47ET5B.
      1. I find that the picture when watching Freeview is quite harsh and very un-lifelike. Whereas when playing movies on it (via a Mac Mini with HDMI) the picture is really sweet. Why should the settings be different in this way?
      2. Because the sound from the TV isn't great I use a Roth sub-zero sound bar which is excellent, using an optical lead. When playing Freeview the Sound Bar works great, but when playing a movie from the Mac I only get sound through the TV and nothing through the sound bar. I have spoken to Panasonic Customer Services (who are useless) and they suggest that it is not possible to do this and I should run sound directly to the sound bar from the Mac - which sounds crazy and would only then be analogue. Have you come across this issue before and do you have any suggestions as unfortunately Panasonic don't.
      Thanks very much, Mike

      Steve,
Subject: Looking for Alternate Remote for DMP-BDT320 player.

Enjoyed your review of DMP-BDT320. I really like the 320.

I too am looking for an alternative remote for the BDT320. I too HATE the trackpad one. I have searched this AVSforum site and Google too for an alternate remote for 320. Unfortunately searching typically points to a thread with the information but thread may have 50 or more pages. Bottom line I need HELP. Unfortunately I don't have an iPAD or Android tablet to use as a remote. Moreover other family members prefer using "dedicated" type remotes.

What Panasonic remotes can I use with the BDT320 other than the trackpad that will give me on/off and eject as well as other functions?
N2QAYB000??? Hope you can fill the "?"s.
Otherwise can you tell me which of the following remotes will work? 110,210, 220, 310 or another ??

      Hi Steve

Just a quick question regarding all-in-one systems for you as you seem to have carried out a couple of recent reviews.

I'm in the market for a system that has to have wireless rears and an Ipod dock included/built in. I'm on a budget of up to around £700. Of the following systems, which would you recommend:

      Sony BDVN790
      Panasonic SC-BTT590EBK
      Panasonic SC-BTT490EBK
      Samsung HT-E5530
      LG BH9520TW

      Any advice/help greatly appreciated.

      Regards

      Stephen

      Hi Steve,

I would like to know, if you remember that is. What input signal you used to test the Panasonic VX300. I ask as it seems like the perfect display for me except the 30ms latency, which I’m sensitive too. I really need 19ms or lower for gaming.

However using a 1080p60 native input rather than a, too be scaled 720p one has had a significant impact on the latency of some displays. And as all my input sources will be 1080p60/50 I was hoping that maybe the lag would be sufficiently reduced.

Also did you have any experience testing the VX300’s external scalar mode ?

I ask as my PC 1920x1080p60 RGB input wouldn’t need scaling and may reduce lag further. However in the VX300 manual it does say that 1:1 pixel mapping is disabled for the external scaler option and that 1080p sources are recognized as 1125p. So would a traditional 1920x1080 source not fit the panels native 1920x1080 resolution properly in this mode?

      Cheers,
      Jim

      Hi Steve,

I have posted this question to you on the Panasonic DMP-BDT500 3D Blu-ray Player Review Comments page. I would greatly appreciate hearing your thoughts on this.

      kind regards

      Ron

      Hi Steve,

As always, thanks for the reviews of the Panasonic players.

I'm a person who hates noisy equipment. Can you tell me do these new Panasonics have fans? If so can you subjectively say how noisy you find them?

And in normal operation: is the DMP-BDT500 transport a lot quieter than the DMP-BDT320? And how much quieter is the DMP-BDT320 than the DMP-BDT220?

      Thanks Ron

      Hi Steve,
First time user here. I only came across this website because I saw a review of a tv I've bought on YouTube and after reading the comments on here I'm beginning to think I've made a terrible decision, and I still haven't received the tv yet!

I've just bought the LG 55LM960V, it looked so good in Currys.

I need to ask, is it as 'bad' as all these comments suggest? Have I bought a complete duffer?

Hi Steve, I'm Dani form Romania and I've read your review on 4th April 2012 for the GT'50. We don't have Panasonic-dealer in my city, the only autorized dealer is 300km so I bought a GT50 online trough bank, only after they told me product was in STOCK and their site Magazin Panasonic confirmed this. Payment went ok & confirmed by them and I was told to wait a few days to get my plasma. I waited and then waited some more and nothing. Romania is EU-member and we are EU-citizen for some time now and we have same rights as you. They even show us advertise regarding our rights when buying online and that we can act if anything goes WRONG. My opinion is: yes, it did go wrong! So what can I do? besides waiting.. cause I'm sick of it! I asked them politly to send my money back and guess what? NO money and no TV.. I'm very angry so please excuse my direct language and capslock's. Any advice/help would be very appreciated. Good day!

      Hello Steve,

I read your review of the hd anywhere and thought it was very good. I have bought a couple 4 x 4 base T systems with HDMI splitters to allow me to distirbute to 6 rooms. Can you possibly help me with a couple of questions I have please.
      1. I saw you tested the system with a universal remote and do not have too much experience with these. To programme the hd anwhere did you for example set the first one on the universal remote to enable the TV and first sky box to intiate?
Would it be advisable to buy a universal remote instead of having 2 sky remotes etc in each room and if so could you recommend a logitech one that is reasonbly priced and would do the job as I have 6 rooms I will need to purchase for.
have heard to IR receiver units get quite hot, do these need to stay on at all times and if you turn one off in a room that is not being used alot would you have to do a full reboot when turned back on?

Thansk for your help and advice on this.

      Steve,

I am interested in the RS45 because of it's brightness and lens memory. I currently own a HD950 and was wondering how the 2d picture quality compares between the 2 units. Has anyone owned both or even seen both at their best? I consider myself to be a bit of a videophile and ultimately want the best picture on the screen. At this time, I am only interested in the 2d quality.

      Thanks in advance

In your recent review of the Optoma HD33 DLP Projector you state:

      "Includes 1 Pair of Glasses"

On the strength of your review I purchased the Optoma HD33 from
Amazon. However, it did not come bundled with one pair of 3D-RF
Glasses. My supplier has spoken to a representative from Optoma, who
they claim has confirmed that the projector does not come bundled with
3D-RF glasses, and that these have to be purchased separately.
Further more, they state that the review model which you were sent was
only bundled with a single pair of 3D-RF Glasses to enable you to carry
out your review of its 3D features.
Indeed the specification 'small print' for the projector on Optoma Europe - manufacturer of award-winning projectors for Business, Education, Professional Audio/Video and Home Entertainment
says that glasses are an optional purchase.
Can you confirm with Optoma who is telling the truth, and amend your
      review if necessary?

Hi Steve - thanks for the referral to DisplayCalibration.co.uk. Had Jules round yesterday to set up my KRP 500A and he did a grand job, learnt a lot too in the process. Loving the results but to be fair the set had a cracking picture anyway but there was improvements made thanks to our man Jules.

Thank you for your response. As you say, The green dots cant be seen from any sensible viewing range. A good tv set by the way and a nice review.
I watched a film last night that was mostly very dark and this helped me to make a better judgement on the uneven brightness. It is only slight but on dark scenes around the entire edge of the screen its as if the contrast washes out slightly, but more so on the right hand side of the screen. As I say, you have to look at the edge of the screen to see it, its not like it catches your attention because it obstructs the picture or anything. Does this still sound a little unusual to you?

      Hi,

I have just bought a sammy ps42c450 plasma (you reviewed the 50" and I wondered if you think its natural that up close I see lots of green dancing pixels mainly on contrasting areas?

It also seems like that in two corners of the screen are somewhat lighter than the centre and a patch coming in from top left (about 8 inch round), I didnt think that could happen on a plasma? A bit like backlight bleed but not as prominent. More like "not as black" areas. A bit greyer as such.

Should this be so in both cases?

Hi 2 all am a fairly new 2 all this, so go easy lol. I really wanted to upgrde my tv set to the panasonic TX-P65VT20B, but unfortunatly i have read alot of the reveiws on here about it havin some kind of 50hz problem, and it has truly scared me of buyin it, all i use is a sky+hd box and a sony ps3, so if i was 2 buy it would i have these problems? I do like watchin the football would it ruin it 4 me? My next question is do u think i should wait untill spring for the VT30 heres a link to what i found Panasonic ‘expands and enhances’ 3D plasma televisions | CES 2011 with News, TechRadar | CES 2011 do you think this new VT30 set will eliminate this 50hz bug?

      Hi Steve,

I'm sorry to bother you (I'm sure you get a ton of similar requests every month) but I need your advice about Samsung LED vs Plasma. I've pretty much narrowed down my choices for a new 3D TV to the 46C8000 LED or 50C7000 plasma from Samsung. I've auditioned them both in an AV showroom, but in-store impressions can never be trusted 100%.

From your reviews of both, I get the sense that the Plasma has the LED beat on all the essentials - 3D, refresh rate, colour fidelity etc - but I need to get your impression on contrast level and sharpness - but would you say the black level on the plasma is 'true black' or close-to? What about sharpness (I like tack-sharp pictures) does the LED win in this regard, or does the plasma still prevail?

That's it - I'm more inclined to go with plasma on account of the 3D crosstalk that plagues LCD/LED's but 'greyish' blacks that some plasmas suffer from are a deal breaker for me. I hope you can shed some light.

      Many thanks in advance

      Tom

      Hi Steve,
Can you tell me if you have had any replies from panasonic about the issues with the panasonic TX-P65VTX20 as its been a few months now sice you did the review.
I'm interested in buying a 3dtv around the 60" size and always wanted the panasonic but if it still has the 50hz problems i will have to look elsewhere.
Do you get the chance to retest the same models to see if there has been any improvements as there seem to be some people in the forums who don't see the problems.
I will be going to test some tv's after the new year and would like to know what things to look out for ie what inputs cause what problems.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

i cant find anything in the manul related to it but the forum is full of mixed suggestion.
