LG EG960V owners and discussion thread

As promised here are the 5% , 10% and famous interstellar clip (2nd one I turned brightness up just to show any issues )

But I am well happy with this one , so much better than my previous 2 .

I know it's not 100% perfect but it's a keeper for sure .

1st pic was my first one (Feb build )
2nd pic was my 2nd one (again Feb build )
3rd pic is my new one (April build )

Just watched some clips that I recorded from Sky that on the first 2 showed the band on panning shots , glad to say on the new one nothing at all , now just going to enjoy it :)

Now all we need is another person with an April box to confirm the improvement or else Barney may have just been lucky...

Or unlucky with the Feb builds

Unless it's the photo I see a thick band in the middle.
Sorry, but I have to ask: Were photo #2 and #3 taken with the same slides and under the same lightning conditions?

Photo 2 with thick band was the 2nd set I had and it was a 10% slide , and pic 3 is my new set again 10% slide (iPhone camera on both approx 2 weeks between pics , lighting the same )

What I meant was that I also see a thick band on photo #3 (your newest set). Actually bigger than on photo #2. I was asking about the lightning conditions, because the dark edges are also very faintly pronounced unlike on photo #2 (your 2nd set) where both dark edges and banding are clearly darker than the rest of the screen.

Why do you put yourself through the charade of testing your tv with slides . If the bands show on content you watch then is the time to act , where as if it only looks a dogs dinner via slides , what is the point.

The band you can just about see in pic 3 is not visible in direct viewing (only camera shows it up ) the band in pic 2 was visible in direct viewing when I had it .

I've just watched the interstellar clip again and the band does not show at all , so I'm well happy .

Also rewatched some other material that had issues on previous 2 sets and again no issues were shown up on this one , also just done colour slides as I was curious and no dead pixels , happy days :)

Fair enough. If you don't see it when watching content, then that's all that matters for you.
I hope that this is no coincidence and that there is real improvement. Will have to see how the flat EF950 does once it's released.

Even if they don't fade they really are a none issue now as the camera just about makes them visible but are completely invisible in normal viewing , unlike my first 2 sets !

And I watched a lot of content last night and it was faultless , and believe me i was automatically looking for issues (can't help myself !) , but could not find fault at all .

With a long exposure on a camera it will pick up faults which your eyes cannot detect, much like backlight bleed/clouding on LCD - obviously we all now know there is an issue but if you got a set which you cannot physically see any faults with your own eyes - surely that's perfect?!

Congratulations @Barney50, looks like you've got a good'un :)

Hi,
Can somebody tell which Currys or local outfit has the 65" on display around Birmingham?

Have to use slides to check em :) Oled law number 1.

What for? To make myself miserable and dissatisfied like some other owners for nothing
I'll watch my favorite movies just like normal, that's it;) TV is for motion pictures, anyway :rotfl:

All the strange Model numbers confuse me.
Why is the 65" 970 £1000 more expensive (John Lewis) than the 65" 960,
if it is an older model???

A thousand? I thought it was 6.5 vs 6k........? But JL have been adding cut price soundbars and stuff to some bundles (not the official free one)...... so that prob makes it look even more expensive....... 970 was announced last spring........ its been out in USA since Sept last year.......... 960 was announced Jan 2015

A little off topic here but I was wondering if any of you with a smilar setup have any suggestions for a media streaming box for this TV , currently using all 3 HDMI ports (sky / ps3 / ps4) and looking to get a device to stream footy to the TV , are there any that just utilise usb ports ? or is there some type of extender you can purchase to get more HDMI ports. Cheers fellas

Sorry, it is approx £500 more.
You'd think the '960' would have a bigger number, like '990'!:)
LG seem to be going backwards?
Makes no sense!!o_O
