Blu-ray Player

Panasonic has unveiled a new UHD Blu-ray Player, the DP-UB450, which follows in the footsteps of their higher end UHD players from 2018.  

The Panasonic UB820 includes most of the features found on the flagship UB9000, but at a considerably lower price. Is this 4K disc player the bargain it appears to be?  

Now that Oppo has gone, is Panasonic's THX-certified UB9000 the new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player of choice for the discerning enthusiast?  

Microsoft caused a bit of a sensation when they added an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive to their Xbox One S and instantly created the cheapest 4K disc spinner. However is this games console any good as a budget UHD BD player?  

The LG BP556 packs a lot into its diminutive frame and performs well with 2D and 3D Blu-rays and DVDs. It also includes video streaming services, along with LG's MusicFlow multiroom system and you can get it for less than £100.  

Sony's all-in-one solution is highly competent for both video and audio duties but we can't help but feel that unless you're specifically looking for a Hi-Res audio/Blu-ray player all-in-one solution, your money would be better invested elsewhere.  

It might not be 4K, UHD or even HDR but Sony's high-ranking 3D Blu-ray spinner presses most of the right buttons with top-notch playback from disc and streaming services.  

Sony launch their latest range of Blu-ray players, soundbases and soundbars. There's no 4K UHD Blu-ray yet but we do get a turntable that can rip to DSD.  

This flagship Blu-ray performs great with both discs and streamed video content but is the Ultra HD scaling really worth the extra?  

The LG BP550 performs brilliantly with 2D and 3D Blu-rays as well as your DVD collection. It also includes a great range of key video streaming services and all for under £100. What more do you need?  

Cambridge Audio launch their new high-end CXU universal Blu-ray player but with Ultra HD Blu-ray around the corner is their timing off?  

We have Cambridge Audio's new CXU Universal Blu-ray Player in for review, so took the opportunity to make an unboxing video with a first look at the accessories, front panel and rear connections.  

A 3D capable budget Blu-ray player with smart apps and built-in WiFi. So what's the catch?  

The BP350 is almost worth buying as an internet media streamer, alone, with its under-one-roof coverage of the best video apps; the fact it plays Blu-rays and DVDs excellently should be taken as read. There's no 3D though...  

We have the Sony BDP-S5500 Blu-ray player in for review at the moment, so decided to make an unboxing video.  

The BDP-S4500 is a perfectly fine disc player but the build quality isn't great and, surprisingly, there's no built-in WiFi.  

The Arcam UDP411 offers excellent build quality and audiophile components but does the high-end performance justify the high-end price tag?
