Guitar Hero is (Surprise!) Coming to Wii
Actually, everyone was waiting for it. Still cool, though.
By Patrick Klepek, 02/08/2007

In addition to announcing that Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam would be making a conversion from Wii to PlayStation 2, Activision, via CEO Mike Griffith, revealed they would be producing a Guitar Hero project for Wii sometime in 2007, says The Tanooki (via Kotaku.) No wonder Neversoft is so anxious to hire.

"The key difference in our strategy versus the prior cycle, is that in addition to full support on Sony and Microsoft platforms, we will aggressively target the Nintendo platforms consistent with our multi-platform strategy and Nintendo's expected growth. In fiscal 2008, we will double our offerings on the DS and the Wii, including Spider-Man, Shrek, Transformers, and Guitar Hero."

There really aren't any controller ports on the Wii, outside of the GameCube slots, so will Neversoft attempt to simulate guitar playing via the Wiimote?

Great News!!!

I would imagine they'd use bluetooth wireless guitars because using the wiimote would suck. I believe the 360 guitars are wireless too.

thats what i'd hope, and no, 360 controllers are wired

Maybe they'll do an attchment to the Wii-Remote, and then have a slot for the wii remote to attach to. That way they could use the motion sensing on the wii remote with the guitar.

Its not a game i have any interest in to be honest, but good to see alot of major third party support, a DS version has also been announced.

With the DS and Wii dominating the Japanese charts im hoping to see alot more third parties bring new and updated titles to the Nintendo consoles.

I can't see the link but...

If you can just plug the guitar into a wii remote and shove the remote in your pocket or utility belt (snigger) that would be better than a wired guitar.

GH1 7 2 are great...highly recommended :)

I think the Wii is more suited to a game like Drum Hero.

A picture of the guitar has been shown, you plug the Wiimote and the Nunchuck into the guitar itself.

Should be good, I would buy it but I can probably save some money by buying it on the Xbox 360 (since I already have the guitar)

Is there an "Official" release date for this game in the UK yet?

Play.com say the 26th of October.....but is that accurate?

im in a bit of a problem the wii version guitar looks brill but the 360 version will probably have two player on live and also i already have the guitar looks like i'll have to have a long think about this:rolleyes:

Am really looking forward to this.

Like the design of the guitar as well.

Anyone know the official UK release date for this game?

Cheers

Mark

looks like 23rd november is the new release date. its too expensive in my opinion, ÂŁ60 from play and then about ÂŁ45 for an extra guitar controller for multiplayer!!

You can't get an extra guitar controller for the Wii version as far as I know...so you'd have to buy the whole bundle again!

Its not a game i have any interest in to be honest..

Ill be getting this for christmas with the family.

Hard to resist it?

I was so not interested in this game when people were talking about it on the PS2; I just didn't see any point or fun it it whatsoever. Then I spotted this thread, and the fact it was coming out for the Wii, and I'm like a little kid, I just can't wait, I just know I'm going to have to get one for Christmas. I can just imagine the kids, particularly my little lad, giving it some serious head-banging on Christmas morning. So far, this is the only 'definite' buy for Christmas... (well and Mario Galaxy too :smashin:)
