HI,

This is NOT my system it belongs to a friend o mine, I am just helping in setup and operation of the system (and supply of some items!)

Old system
Seleco 195 floor mounted in coffee table hush box
Pioneer DLV-909
multi region DVD player
Owl 4.5 foot electric screen 4:3 format
Polk audio speakers 5 no sub
2 chairs and a row of 4 airplane seats
over 1000 DVD's

this system worked well for a number of years BUT the seleco projector died, it has been used as spares for another member, so it was time to upgrade.

the basement suffered from damp as well so the new HT will have new walls built all the way round as part of a damp trap, and a new CRT based HT system

New System - but subjest to change
Seleco 500+
Harman Kardon DVD player and 5.1 amplifier
addition of Harmon Kardon Sub
polk audio speakers reused
6 Ex Walt disney preview theatre seats (last 6!)
Possible new larger screen as the PJ should end up ceiling mounted this time.
Laserdisc player has been removed as very large and only 20 discs in this collection.

poor picture but low light level and phone camera

All going well walls go up this week........

Um... That's not a Seleco 500+ Andy, that's a cat.

Are you ripping this guy off or what?

I'm phoning the RSPCA now.

Does she have an internal line doubler fitted?
Also, when you are checking your throw distance, how many revolutions by the tail are you supposed to use?

Yes I thought that and got it wrong,

you cant use the tail for throw distance the room is too small, the floor is a smooth wood floor at the moment so you use an underarm throw like in bowls and slide her along the floor, that seems to work best I found.

James thinks I shoud stack 'em, you know me BLEND it

Not enough room to swing a cat hey! Looks a bit chilly down there also!

At least you'll know the results will be puuurrr-fect. (altogther now...Groan ;) )

How long can we 'milk' this joke do you think?

Nice cat though.

How long can we 'milk' this joke do you think?

Not too long as overloading the forums with unneccesary puns could ultimately be:

Catastrophic!

Bulbs Grow n Tubes Glow......

and cats meow......

OK I'll stop now.:suicide:

In the cat box?

Bad enough having LCD discussed here without CAT discussions in CRT!

Admin, please move this thread to the > CAT Projectors forum.

thanks

Oh dear,

Looks like I have let the cat out the bag on my new install.

I only get the real cream of the work.

I hope there wont be a sting in the tail of this job.

Wot no pussy jokes yet!

PS - im just as bad at the install as I am at the jokes..............

Keep the pictures coming Andy as it'll be interesting to see the transformation.

And by the way, can we have more close-ups of your freinds puss.......no no no, just stop it Ian(slap myself on the wrist lol) :D

(MOD NOTE - PICTURS DONT SEEM TO LOAD ANYMORE, I WILL TRY AND RECTIFY THIS SOON!)

So Crimbo and New year out the way I wander down the road and check on the progress in this basement HT.....

So the builders have managed to.......OH NO THEY HAVEN'T....finish the walls I asked them to build. ITS BEHIND YOU....oh yes one wall almost completed and the STUD IN (thats me:smashin: ) ready for the third wall.

This place has a real low ceiling 6 foot, so the idea is 2 rows of 3 chairs, raise the back row,NEW Seleco 500 just over front row, 4.5foot wide screen, concern that this wont fit so a trial run.......

Chair type to be used (last 6 going in this gig none left) - Bad phone cam picture.

Test projector - This is the Seleco 500 LITE version (AKA 2 eyed little monster)
My lackie on this site just finishing the lite touches off....

The client will obviously get the full version (once we put it back together :D  :D )

When the builders finish their tea and stop leaning on the cd racks we should see some more progress  .........

Good news is the ceiling will be flat black (So will the PJ) and the walls red.....

This HT will be known as the "Mini Me Cinema" - more info on that to follow - those that know why , just try and keep it to yourself for now! :lease:

The rest of you will see the "full evil" version in good time ;)

And just to prove some work was done today....

Cable end preparation

Removal of the OLD coffee table PJ unit.....

jq111e.jpg

We work very quickly - thats why the pictures are all a blur.......

Also did a couple of test shots on the old screen....Needed to adjust the G2's,
and give the new PJ a full and more upto date DIGITAL look so.....

Before any catibration.......
jq0y9d.jpg

and after, with the CRT in Digital mouse I mean mode.........
jq0ymb.jpg

Clearly showing the huge benefit or the Digi mode.
Increased brightness, sharp corner focus, and fantastic black levels :D

Perfect Digital Catibration.

Finished !!! :D

Pictures,

1. Air con for summer, Radiator for winter! - CD stack will go when the carpenters finish the wall units for the films/CDs

2. Light switch by side of rear row of seats, allows for control of room lighting in 2 zones - this could have been remote control but thats just another remote to loose.

3. Screen shot

4. Seleco 500 + HD installed with only 238 hours on the clock, Black case.

5. Polk Audio Speakers, Bass is a JBL sub

6. Speakers

7. Six seats in 2 rows of 3.

This is in a very small basement, the ceiling is only just 6 foot high.

Seats are Ex Walt Disney London Preview Theatre, six bass shakers under the back row. Rear row is raised.

Carpet from John Lewis.

Paint from B&Q

Speakers Polk Audio, DVD/AMP Harman Kardon (Pictures to follow when cabinet is completed.

Entire installation project run by TheInstallation.com (Shamless plug!)

Glad you got it finished.
I can see why you call it the "Mini me cinema":)

Ah! yes.......

I forgot......

This basement cinema is known as the "mini me cinema"...

MORE details on that to come when the "Big Brother Cinema is completed" :D

Some of you have seen it, Finishing touches are going in within the next five weeks if I can find time.

Then, I will have another HT thread to add to our growing list here......

Would be nice for others to start their own threads about what they have......They all get added to the FAQ section.

This is a really good thread. I can't think why but i have a really good "feline" about it.
