This year marks a very different diamond jubilee and to celebrate we take a look at the triumphs and disasters of one of the most recognisable names in audio.
Docking Systems are a niche product in that they usually work with an external source, such as an iPod or mobile smart phone. They usually consist of a speaker powered by a small built-in amplifier plus the docking cable or base. You connect the external source and then use the docking system to play back your music collection.
The most popular systems are those which are portable and can be used outdoors at BBQ’s or gatherings to provide background music. They can also be set up as alarm clocks in some configurations which also charge your phone while you sleep.
Popular manufacturers include Roberts, Arcam, Tangent, LG and Samsung.
