From the Forums: DIY Dedicated Atmos Cinema Room

This is how you do it!

by Mark Hodgkinson Apr 1, 2016

  • It’s hard not to get caught up in the hype and hullaballoo surrounding the new immersive audio formats and certainly in the case of AVForums member, IanW, the temptation was just too strong.
Ian is no stranger to putting together a home cinema build, however, and we can see the fruits of his previous endeavours below, which is far from a shabby set up, as is.
But, of course, if you want the full effect of Atmos or DTS:X, you are ideally going to have to fit speakers over head, so it was out with the saw.
And in with the speakers but this was no mean feat as the Ian has double-boarded 15mm plasterboard throughout the room to help with sound proofing.
And if you weren’t jealous enough already, here is Ian’s finished room and a look at the kit that drives it all.
All we can see Ian is, you’re a very lucky man and we hope you enjoy your new and improved set up. Gorgeous!
