  • We spoke to Hisense about their new TV line-up for the UK, including the U7 which is the Official TV of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. The U7 is a 4K Ultra HD TV with elite backlighting (that's edge LED backlighting to the rest of us), support for High Dynamic Range (HDR10, HDR10+ and Hybrid Log-Gamma) and Wide Colour Gamut (WCG). It uses a 120Hz VA LCD panel with an Ultra Slim design, a bezel-less screen and a pure metal construction. The U7 will be available in May in screen sizes of 50-, 55- and 65-inches and although full pricing hasn't been announced yet, we expect the 50-inch model to retail for just £699.

The other model announced for the UK is the U9 which is a 4K Ultra HD TV with a Prime Array (direct) backlight that utilises 1,000 LED dimming zones and can deliver a peak brightness of 2,500nits. The U9 has a 120Hz VA LCD panel also uses quantum dot, allowing it to deliver 90% of Rec.2020, according to Hisense. It also supports High Dynamic Range (HDR10, HDR10+ and Hybrid Log-Gamma) and uses an Ultra Slim design, a bezel-less screen and a pure metal construction. The U9 will be available in 65- and 75-inch screen sizes and is expected later in the year, although pricing has yet to be announced.

Hisense were also showcasing their new 4K Laser TV, as well as a retro TV that combines an LCD panel with a throwback chassis design. Finally Hisense let slip that they plan to release their first OLED TV in the UK later in the year.
