Putting together alot of eerie clues together these last few days I have come to the realisation that a reveal is definite. Of course, I could be/am mad.

    What do you think?

PS - Console includes anything, even if they just publicly announce that they are working on it.

Its the last CES for Microsoft. Why would they want to do something like announce the new console.

This was on Joystiq some time ago, it was a patent that was most likely applied for integrating with the Xbox 360 and is nothing to do with the new console. With streaming being all the rage there is no chance in hell a DVR will be placed into a games console.

I think that there will be an announcement but not a reveal.

Edit- Come to think about it if they announce anything it will probably affect sales of the current console, so at E3 2012 I expect an announcement/reveal and 2013 the console will hit retail.

I'm sure I read somewhere that its because CES is so early on in the year and MS never have anything big to announce in the 1st quarter so theres not much in it for them to bother with.

I remember the week or so before E3 with the slim and all the naysayers saying 'no chance'. :D That's what I'm pinning my hopes on.

In reality, I don't think they will, as much as I want them to.

Its their last as keynote not altogether, I expect they will still have a presence.

They are looking to go the Apple route and have special events for big announcements but I still expect the next xbox to be at E3.

It's not CES, it's E3 the rumours are for.

CES Rumour has been going round for weeks. The E3 one has only really started this week from MCV originally.

Nope because MS will be too busy having a load of Kinect stuff to show off. E3 2012 will probably be just as bad for MS as E3 2011.

I voted no, but if there was a "maybe" option I'd have gone for that, lol. I think it's more likely we'll see something at GDC or E3. Then again, I seem to remember the majority saying that there wouldn't be a 360 "slim" announcement at E3 the other year and there was, so who knows?

Darryl, the original Xbox was announced at GDC, not CES.

I very much doubt they will announce anything at CES, if they plan to release the next console in time for Christmas 2013 there's little point announcing it nearly 2 years beforehand especially when Sony have yet to play their cards.

They might want to announce it in response to the Wii-U as that was announced over a year before its release date. MS might not want to give them a year head start, so I think we'll see the next Xbox in stores before Christmas 2013. It could even be Christmas this year. The 360 was announced in May 2005 and launched in November of the same year.

No way would it be this year, the Wii u was announced a year and half before release but they don't have the competition to worry about. If the xbox was announced at E3 the earliest we would see it is September next year. I doubt they have finished the design yet let alone have it ready ready for mass production in a few months time.

Xbox 720 Development kits are already in the hands of some developers so its obvious they will have those developers work on games for the Xbox 720 then announce it this year and by next year the games will be 75% complete and and done just in time for the Xbox 720's launch date.

Wouldn't you want a head start over Sony and embarrass them again?

The 360 was on store shelves 6 months after it was first announced. And of course Nintendo have the competition to worry about.

Before all this Kinect nonsense I expected a new console to releasec for November 2011.
With a new console from Nintendo I'd expect MS to focus more on attacting new users to the 360 as it should be cheaper than the Wii-U (expect to see some strategically priced Kinect bundles popping up around Wii-U launch) rather than trying to sell a new console which will basically only sell to users who already have a 360 (and crucially buying 360 games). The last thing MS will want at the moment is to start losing money selling a new console at a loss.

But there is always the hope we will finally get a new Xbox by years end as MS try to beat Sony to the punch, neither will really care much about beating Nintendo at this stage, but neither MS or Sony will want to be last to release so maybe they'd try to be this side of 2013 if they think the other is going to release in 2013.

Well its going to be interesting, there are rumours all over the net that both the next xbox and ps4 will be announced at E3. It would be nice to see the xbox by the end of the year but I'm happy to wait if it means we get a solid console in return (no more red light shenanigans).
What if both ms and Sony plan to release at same time, the mother of all fanboy wars lol. Fanboygeddon.
