This morning I saw a young bloke with his trousers hanging below his backside. It seems to be the fashion.
    Completely inappropriate and utterly ridiculous.
On holiday, I saw a bloke in his late 20's/early 30's doing the same. Trying to be hip and cool, I suppose. Looked a prat.
Now I'm not a boring fuddyduddy who thinks everyone should conform to set dress codes (I haven't worn a tie for years), but honestly, wearing your trousers halfway (or more) below your arse is ridiculous, isn't it?!

Whenever I see these people I wish I had an almost empty cup of hot chocolate that I could sneakily pour on the arse crack of their pants without them noticing.

    :p

E: I used to work in HMV and sadly allot of people who worked their used to do this. Watching them try to waddle along and then climb some stairs while holding a pile of CDs/DVDs then their trousers started to slip too far down, was pretty hilarious.

My nephews do this on holiday (evenings -mainly when wearing jeans) - I casually drop an ice cube into their jeans and make loud comments to draw attention when they try to fish it out:D

My young nephew has landed a job in JDSports recently, and this just happens to be part of the uniform.
His boss actually told him to lower his trousers below his arse because he was wearing them properly :thumbsdow
Personally I think it looks stupid.

I thought urban thugs regularly needed to run away. How are they going to do that with their trousers half way down?

Phew, I thought it was just me and I was turning into my dad...

The baggy trousers thing doesn't annoy me - baggy trousers are at least comfortable - it's the skin-tight ones that look like they belong on a 14 year old female instead of a late-teens male that enrage me. The lower half of the leg is up beyond their ankle, and the top of the trousers doesn't even cover half their arse. I want to shake them and shout "buy a pair of trousers that fits you, you clown!".

You'll be complaining about kids music next ;)

Moaning about fashion and music just means you're getting old. Old'uns have always complained about youngsters. :D

On the contrary I think it actually looks like they couldnt make it to a toilet in time, so instead have put the trousers that way to house the waste until they can reach a suitable location rather than have it go down there legs!

    Enjoy your lunch people

I never understood it either, even at school, when this craze was popular (my secondary school didn't have a uniform at the time), it just seemed stupid. Plus, when playing football, there was always a couple of prats who still insisted on wearing their tracksuit bottoms this way meaning they kept on losing the ball because they spent most of their efforts trying to run properly because of their dedication to this 'fashion' (still, I'd assumed most were even aware of the alleged origin of this fashion either)

I read somewhere this had something to do with prisoners in US Jails/Prisons, and men who wore their pants in this fashion was an indication that they were open to erm... bottom sex...!

I thought it was because they didn't have belts in their trousers?

They weren't allowed to wear them.

I've worn trousers pushed down below my waist for years...

...nothing to do with fashion, just my beer belly forcing them south!

I have a bit of a pot belly myself (am forcing myself to get rid of) but even if I wear jeans below the belly, it doesn't mean that I in turn also show my backside (I'm assuming you don't either)

I'm old & my taste in clothes is very plain nowadays (much to my kids dismay), however I have a little bit of respect for this youth culture that's come about in the last 10 yrs or so.
The black sportswear, the baseball caps, the hoodies, the gloves, the hangin out in groups, the customised cars and the love of gangster rap.

General society is either scared or disgusted by these kids and IMO far too quick to villianise & judge these kids.

My guess is 99.9% of these lads (& lasses) wouldn't say boo to a goose and would be civil if people would just show some civility towards them, irrespective of how they dress. Let's face it the the generation that is now middle aged hasn't exactly set a good example and provided a better environment for them to grow up in have they.

I think current youth culture has some kudos tbh becuase it's just that, youth culture and they love the fact that us old farts don't understand it and that we're even intimidated by it. That's our problem not theirs.

I'm an old punk and still hold all those punks bands dear to my heart, however I also recognise now that is was dreampt up by a load of public schoool boys and artist students. It launched the carreers of many a capitalist wannabe that is so far up their own ****es it's laughable.
At least youth culture now is a bit more real and has risen out of the working classes.

My son is 12yrs old, he wears a hoody, baggy jeans, plays Xbox & likes Tinnie Tempah. Believe it or not he's a sound kid with a real grasp of what's right & wrong & he'd help anyone that was in need. He's gifted at maths and is doing really well at school & we're all really proud of him.

Leave em to it and don't judge a book by it's cover I say.:lesson:

    EDIT
In answer to the OP - IMO it's actually no less ridiculous than grown men spending their time and money on overpriced sound and cinema systems and then discussing the pros and cons of owning the re-mastered bluray re-release of Gremlins in an online forum.
...and before anyone asks.... NO - I've not had inside info that Gremlins has been remastered for bluray (but I will let you know if I hear anything) ;-)

I find 20-30 year olds wearing skinny jeans more frightening, especially when its outlining their genitals.

What I hate to see is the crotch down at their knees, typical example is teen group JLS.
Just makes them look daft to this old fart.
