Of course not, but nobody was saying that they do. The point is they have published an article of a complete non-story which is only set out to make the point of "look at how stunning this kid is", and we're not talking about in a parent style "aww look at how cute my daughter is" or "how handsome my son is".

We're talking about a random 13 year old girl who they are calling stunning... how would you react if your husband (or any male friend, married or not) remarked about a random 13 year old girl on the street saying she is stunning? It just doesn't seem right to me, even more so coming from a paper who always make their view on such matters perfectly clear.

So is an e-mail winging it's way to the editor of the DM pointing out their hypocrisy

Or is this going to be another GC non event thread

I was so ugly as a kid that not even the local paedo would play with me.

Why does anyone emailing the DM make any difference to a thread discussing this?

Forums are for discussion, if I was going to email them I would do that regardless of a forum thread?

Clearly you seem concerned over their standards to warrant a thread why not point it out to them and tell us what they say about it

I don't have the time to email all of the news and media companies to raise my issues with them all, I do however think that it's interesting to see how others feel on the matters by discussing them on a forum. I don't care what they have to say about it, chances are they'd ignore anything I sent to them anyway. I imagine they get plenty of complains on a regular basis, but that never stops their headlines does it?

This is a forum mate...would you want us to stop creating threads for people to talk about topics that interest them and just have us email a couple people and not post on here about it?

this is the General Chat area you know :)

i didn't ask you to email all of them just the DM on this particular subject

You say you don't have time but you took time to create a thread

Please read what I said I didn't have the time to do, I made it explicitly clear that it wasn't just one email I'd be sending. Pointing it out to them via any other method would take even longer, and possibly at a cost to me.

    Good post.

What kind of person would start a thread on an Internet forum expressing their displeasure with a media company rather than dealing directly with that company?

If you wrote to the daily mail every time one of their articles was hypocritical, misleading, bigoted, misrepresentative, racist, gibberish, scaremongering, hatemongering, lies, spin, or just outright nonsense you'd be writing to them multiple times a day.

You can't seriously believe that the daily mail give a damn about what reasonable and right minded people think, if they did how could they act the way they do?

    Oooh,

Daily Mail publishes article, that's neither newsworthy, yet suffers from total hypocrisy. What a shocker! :thumbsdow

That's almost as bad as today's front cover of THE SUN, which has a story about a five year old who wants to be, (and is being brought-up by his parents as), a girl. (The point being, there is no point to this story, other than that SUN readers can gawp, laugh, and then berate the family/child that's on the front cover.)

These are tabloid wrags, folks, NOT newspapers! Neither THE SPUN nor the DAILY WAIL publish anything remotely news-worthy, and it actually shocks me more that so many people think they ARE newspapers, and that these two publications have people who call themselves "journalists" working for them! :rotfl:

Both publications are aimed at extreme readers:
    - extremely stupid readers
    - extremely imbecilic readers
    - extremely hypocritical readers
    - extremely moronic readers
    - extremely easily offended readers

If you read either of these wrags, than shame on you for keeping these filthy piles of toss alive and kicking! :(

Oh, you mean you ARE into that sort of thing? Makes your objections to this thread all the more disturbing.

You know where the exit is...

This is the thing you are mocking the DM but at the same time giving them the publicity they want

If you hadn't started this thread this would have probably gone unnoticed

I wouldn't worry too much, kebabhead has posted half the content of the thread moaning about you starting a thread about moaning because you haven't moaned to the right people. Perhaps we should just close the forums or run everything past kebabhead first. Clearly irony isn't his strong point.

As for the daily mail, it's hardly surprising.

I know it's a bad thing I've done, my thread has caused numerous forum members to go out today to purchase the Daily Mail, and I feel terrible knowing that my thread has caused such a thing. I shall hang my head in shame now :(

Also sincere apologies to all of you people who read this that suddenly felt the urge to go purchase this newspaper, that was never my intention. Sadly I will not be offering any compensation.

you asked iccz to e-mail them and tell us what they say about it, surely that will be providing the same free publicity, but instead of being critasism we'd be posting more of their spin for them.

6000 posts and I've never seen you on the right side of a debate.

You said Iccz was "giving the DM the publicity it wanted". Surely the only publicity of any use to them is the type that makes people go out and buy newspapers.
