Very good, no glitches.... better than my realtek based player.
No i don't think they are standard i think they are 1280 by 580 or something - my mate did it for me.
Can these output audio on HDMI / optical and component simultaneously?
Does it do in-video chapters? Or is it like the old WDTVHD which does 10 minute skips?
I've heard it has apps, a la the iphone, are there any good ones? Or does that seem like a throwaway gimmick?
I don't have much need for the in-built hard drive, should I get the hub or a WDTV Live? Oh and are there mods for the live to give it similar features as the Live Hub?
Just took the plunge and ordered this for 146.45 from ebuyer
Will be a Xmas pressie for me so will have to wait a while to get it setup properly though.....
the latest update of the wdtvlive plays isos and dvd with menus and chapters
no glitches from usb but a few glitches whilst streaming hd files
might as well get the WD TV Live instead, it seems like the more stable product at this time =P
Can someone help me get the wdtv hub to see my external 1tb wd drive?
You plugged it into a usb port on the hub ? If not, how are you connecting it ?
Have a search of some of the WDTV Live threads here, I think someone (Mjeeves?/Planthead?) had issues with badly formatted WD drives a couple of months ago. IIRC a reformat solved things.
cheers, yes i seemed to have the same issue. connecting via the back usb.
i have now reformatted in vista to ntfs but its now only showing as 1.81tb and even when i've put things on it it still says 1.81tb free from 1.81tb???

Yes. My WD Elements was faulty. I got it changed via Amazon and the second one worked no problem. I just plugged it into the PC and the WDTV Live found it. Weird.
i reformatted it and all seems fine now
New theme launched
It changes the "look" to a "Anodized Brushed Aluminium" style and comes with

I am looking at getting one of these to use on my trusty old Panasonic TX32PD30 CRT television. The intention is to connect it via the Component inputs. Anyone had experience of this with this TV or one of a similar age?
Not sure if I am missing something.
I have been trying to set the weather feed to English cities.
The instructions say that it is possible, but are not fantastically clear on how to do it. I have tried everything but it seems to be impossible. Has anyone managed to make it show weather for places in England?
I've just set this up on component cable with my Tosh 32zp48. As with other kit that uses component, make sure you hook it up first via composite cable and then configure the settings for component else you won't get a picture!
Not played a great deal via it yet as am just ripping and downloading stuff to the drive at present.
All working well so far though
I think a part search only looks up US Cities so have you specified the full UK town you are looking for?
Hi I should get mine tomorrow can't wait,
Never had anything like this before, what would you guy recommend the best format to be mkv or something else?
Are Blu-Rays easy to rip to get on there?
Can you play moves form iTunes ?
Thanks for all your help
mkv format would be fine
any files are easy to copy on, bluray, mpeg1, jpeg, whatever
What ripper would you recommend .?
Well, I put in Norwich and it found loads of Norwich's in America......
The weather part works fine for the UK as long as people do the search in the correct way.
The list that appears on the right hand side when you type your locations name will only show places in the US, you must type the full name of your location eg, Norwich and then go down to the submit button and click that.
The screen page will then change showing a more comprehensive list of Norwich from around the world, including the UK.
Cheers thanks. Trying that now!
Yep that worked!
For My WDTV Live, I do everything to MKV using MakeMKV. Free and fast.
No menu support etc though.
Thanks for the advice. Mine arrived today and it works perfectly with my TV. For the the Panasonic TX32PD30 you need to have the audio running through SCART 4. Fortunately I had a very nice IXOS SCART lead with Phono break-out leads which did just the trick.
Hi thanks for all the help the WDhub works really well.
I am using MakeMKV for ripping and most DVDs work with a brilliant picture but when I play the move some are not smooth as if it jumps very slightly?
this would be the key issue for me - how well does it play them? i've been told the WD Live does not play dvd iso 's as well as other media players e.g. playon
is there a marked improvement when compared to the wd live?
