    Hi Guys,

I too have the same issue. All of a sudden my remote would not work from my bedroom.

I took my video sender back to Argos for an exchange and still the same issue. New replacement sender though had a much better picture which is weird?

AEI DG258 DigiSender Wireless Video/TV Sender with SCART.

I read on another forum that someone installed a SLX Sky Magic eye kit £5 from Play.com. They didn't have a coax connection, but just butted the IR's together, and now all works fine.

I may try this as a cheap fix.

ohh..i just realised this thread is well old..lol

    Hi Guys,

All of a sudden my remote control would not work from my bedroom to operate my Sky channels via my video sender. It did work perfectly for 2 weeks prior??

from Play.com. They didn't have a coax connection, but just butted the IR's together, and apparently this all works fine.

I may try this as a cheap fix.

Does anyone know of reasons why this has happened?

The obvious thing to check is does the remote you are using upstairs operate the Sky box if used downstairs?

Yes, i have tried absolutely everything. Rebooting, moving things around etc....but still no joy...i still have time to take back the Video Sender to Argos if i can't find a solution.

The IR goes back down to the sender on a much lower frequency than the video goes up. Cast your mind back to when the trouble started, has anything in your house been moved/changed/installed? Ask the neighbours what they have done!

It's a very expensive elaborate sender and certainly ought to work, unless there HAS been some new RF device installed recently within its range.
I'd feel inclined to try something simpler and cheaper next time.

I can't think of any new changes i have made? But for the money i paid it should work i agree. I will continue to play around around with it..but if no joy by Saturday i think i will return it and go for a cheaper version, or at least a different model.

Try it in different rooms in the house - no need for a TV connection, just see if the IR works.

They don't have to be changes that you have made.
That expensive model could probably pick up interference from the neighbours as S N suggests.
It would be a good idea to try the control from various locations.
If it has a choice of frequencies try them all too of course.

Well guys...tried all the rooms upstairs..still no luck with the remote sender.

Took it back to Argos and bought a Freeview+HD recorder instead. I guess at least with this i will be able to control the channels..all be it not very many of them... :-(

That makes absolutely no sense when compared to the original query.

How does a Freeview recorder control your Sky box downstairs?

It doesn't control my Sky Box..i just gave up on it and settled for Freeview instead of being able to watch Sky upstairs..

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to use RF2 from the Sky box, assuming that your aerial cable goes downstairs too?

Not really Neil, the aerial lead that goes downstairs is faulty..so only the one in the bedroom works. That routes directly to the loft antenna.
And on further thinking i like the idea of having a seperate PVR, which i can easily take on my camping trips.

So overall i paid twice as much, but i get extra recording space and it will be of use camping/hotels also.
