For anyone who is after a USB pen drive that works with the Xbox I bought a SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro USB 2.0 Memory Flash Drive for £8.49 from play.com a few days ago and it works really well.

I had been looking for a USB drive to put films and TV shows on to play in XBMC through a controller port on the Xbox. I bought a controller port > USB lead a while back from eBay for softmodding purposes for a couple of pounds.

Anyway the SanDisk is helpful as my wireless sometimes struggles if the weather is bad and it's a pain 1/2 way through a film for it to exit back to XBMC.

Does anyone else here play media on their Xbox from a USB stick ?

I have done. I think pretty much any FAT32 drive will work. I used a Glypth USB HDD.

We are using the USB stick with XBMC to watch files from...

Just copy media files onto a USB stick on your PC and then plug into the XBox via a Controller adaptor (or straight in on the X3 panel) - launch the files from XBMC.

I presume you have already modded your Xbox ?

If so then have a look at this page
    http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/?title=USB_Mass_Storage_support_in_XBMC

If you have a fairly new XBMC running already then the list on that page shows which make and models of USB sticks should work. I couldn't get my Kingston sticks to work however and they are on the 'working' list so be aware of that if that's the make you are using. With the price drops of USB sticks I took a slight gamble with the Sandisk but it works a treat.

And remember - the USB stick must be no greater than 4Gb or it won't work.

If you used AID to install Unleashx as your dash you can also install XBMC as an application.Never used Slayers but i would imagine that has a similar setup.

Does a 4gb+ usb stick not work at all, or will the xbox only see 4gb of a larger usb drive?

    thanks

Just to let you guys know and to help others.

I've just tested my Sandisk Micro USB (4gb) and its working fine. I'm using the latest version of XBMC dashboard.

    Hope this helps others.

Cool. I might get a 4Gb one as I am using the 2Gb one quite a lot.
Am liking the green light on it too - goes well with the Xbox.
