    Just read about this at DTV Forum Australia.

    The Australian Firmware is needed for this.

    Post 14 provided by SirSTI has the firmware and details for this to work.

    Turn on Player.
    Press setup.
    Press 8 5 2 0.
    A menu appears
    Set BD region
    1=A
    2=B
    3=C

    Please do at your own risk.

    enjoy, and BIG thanks to SirSTI for the firmware and Viking61 for testing.

    I think maybe you must have the Australian firmware installed for it to work.

    Hey Guys,

    I'm in Aus' and just picked this player up. I tried the above and thats exactly what comes up. Then i remembered the Firmware disc that comes with the unit and has the attached sticker on it with instructions. Once i updated the F/W it opens up the ability to change the regions for both Bluray and DVD.

    They are both working great with a variety of titles i have tried. The only caveat if there is one, is for the Bluray side of things is that you need to change the region each time you want to use a different region disc (no biggy for me as i wanted specifically just for region 1 discs). Also attached a pic of the F/W that was on the disc.

    Is it possible for you to make an image file of the CD by using ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com) and upload the file somewhere? Rapidshare is a good free fileshare which can be used.

    Seems that this could do more than one Toshiba bluray model.

    Would be great if SirSTI does manage to make an image of the file.

    Hi Viking and neuty,

    I was thinking i would upload it somewhere if people wanted it. I was originally thinking of just ripping it off the Disc and Raring it up, then uploading. Is rapid share peoples prefered option? Also do we want a RAR or ISO?

    Lastly i sent an email to Toshiba here in Aus just yesterday and got a reply back today in regards to newer F/W and the reply is below, i have replied hoping i can just D/L the newer one.

    Personally I would prefer an iso file. Then we would get an exact copy of your disc. But if it is easier for you, then I suppose ripping it would also work.

    I am almost sure the regionfree setup will still work after an online firmware upgrade of your player. It would be strange if Toshiba made it so it would be lost, unless it is specifically mentioned in the papers that it will do so. Most likely there will be many firmware upgrades, and Toshiba can't expect that the customers bring their player to a servicecentre each time.

    SirSTI, I would prefer an iso file (or ripped files) from the firmware CD that you already have (Ver.28) instead of any new version Toshiba might send you. I think the newer version will just be an ordinary firmware upgrade.

    Hi Guys,

    Here is the link for the ISO i just made (HERE). I have alos attached a couple of pictures to show it is for real and i actually have the player etc. (hard to believe some people thats all :D).

    I used Imageburn Version 2.5.5.0 at the slowest speed possible. I'm happy to do it again at different speeds or it doesn't work for some reason.

    Did anyone try the regionfree firmware that SirSTI so generously provided us on a BDX3100KE? I think it will work fine. The only thing I am a bit unsure of is that if you are on a higher firmware version than the regionfree firmware, if it will accept a firmware downgrade. The regionfree firmware for the BDX3100KY is version 28.

    I bought a Toshiba BDX1200KE (European model) and installed the regionfree Australian firmware for BDX1200KY, and it works great. :)

    I now have a regionfree DVD and multiregion BD player. It takes about 3 seconds to change BD region, no need for reboot. Just to press Setup, 8520, set region, Setup.

    The only question now is if I dare to upgrade the firmware if/when there will come a firmware update. I am pretty sure the DVD regionfree will stay intact, but I'm not 100% sure if the Blu-Ray multiregion will survive an upgrade.

    This is brilliant news Viking61.

    So the firmware provided was for the 3100 model, yet you have a 1200 model and it worked fine without any tweaks or mods to the firmware?

    I would guess that similar to the XE1 HDDVD player, that once the firmware was done with region free it stayed even after upgrading to higher.

    Well im pretty sure this is possibly The best way to get Multi-Region DVD and Blu at the cheapest of cost.

    Off hunting for best price Toshiba Bluray player. :thumbsup:

    BIG thanks to SirSTI for passing this on.

    No, I used a different Australian regionfree firmware for the BDX1200. If you go for that model, then give me a word and I will help you out.

    Yes, I have for the BDX3100 (thanks to SirSTI) and for the BDX1200. And I know that there is for the BDX1100 and the BDX3200 also.

    Was it on a BDX3100 you tried? If so, can you try again after installing the regionfree firmware from SirSTI?

    Hi, could someone point me at the Australian firmware BDX1200KY that works on a UK BDX1200KB to allow the MR hack?

    I've searched the net, but can't find it.

    Thanks

    Viking61 kindly supplied the BDX1200 Aus firmware v16, and it works a treat!

    I mounted the ISO on my mac, and dragged the UPG_ALL folder across to a USB HDD. I then went to the upgrade option, and it loaded in, then rebooted. Setup 8520 takes you into the screen to change the DVD region. It looks the same as the UK firmware, but you can actually change the values.

    Nice! Cheers Viking61.

    Thanks for the offer but ended up grabbing a Philips BDP3200 instead.
    Glad to hear it's working so well for everyone using it though :)
